My daughter and I went to this establishment for lunch earlier this afternoon. I've been wanting to try it out for some time, and we're both very fond of Mediterranean foods. The establishment is clean, cozy, and the service was superb. We ordered the zaatar appetizer, and for our meal, two combo platters, Greek fries and beverages of Coke and Pepsi. The zaatar appetizer is a pita topped with olive oil and a generous helping of zaatar seasoning, consisting of thyme, roasted sesame and salt. It's crisp, oily, saltly, and slightly bitter. Delicious! The platters have a very generous helping of yellow rice, a salad with iceburg lettuce, tomato, feta and pickled turnip, lamb and beef gyro, grilled chicken, a beef kabob, a couple falafel and a pita. The falafel is the absolute best I've ever had. Rich in parsley and garbanzo beans. The kabob and gyro are tender and flavorful. And the chicken is grilled to perfection. The yellow rice is a beautiful bright yellow rice thats nice accompaniment with a warm soft pita bread. Hummus, tzatziki, tahini, garlic sauce, and a Greek salad dressing were all included. The server said all the sauces are homemade and you can most definitely taste the quality in the ingredients. The server later brought out some of their red "suicide" sauce. If you like heat, I highly recommend this sauce. It's spicy, slightly vinegary, savory, slightly smokey and has a bit of a chunky texture. For me, it's too mild to be considered a suicide sauce, but the server said he could make it spicier. I look forward to a spicier version. The Greek fries are crisp french fries topped with the salad, tzatziki sauce and a very generous helping of feta cheese. We were so immersed into the platters, we totally forgot about the fries and opted for them to go. There was so much food that we needed a few take out containers each. We also opted for additional hummus, and red suicide sauce. Finally, I ordered a rice pudding to go that I later tried at home. Basmati-like-rice in an incredibly creamy pudding with a strong taste of orange blossom water. It was the perfect later day sweet snack. All together our bill was $76. A little steep for 2 diners, but the quality and service is worth every single penny. We will most...
Read moreWanted to love it after hearing so many good things...but couldn't.
It was really dirty inside. Especially the glass, windows, and booth (Which were really uncomfortable to sit on)
We sat there and waited 40 minutes for 2 gyro wraps.
When they finally came they hadhandfulls of shredded lettuce, and the a soggy pita and rather than gyro meat as the center of the sandwich it came in a few meat "croutons" in it and they were so salty it was not edible.
We weren't mad about the wraps, or the wait but when our server came by and saw I hadn't eaten it, she asked me if I wanted a box. I said "No thank you, I'm not sure this is right, there really isn't any meat on here?"
She made a face as if to say I was stupid and then said "Umm well okay then.." And she left with my meal.
Stuff happens and I know it's a holiday weekend and all but there was no apology, no offer to look at it, to make another one, to bring some meat, to see if we wanted anything else, nothing. She just didn't care.
When she didn't come back to speak with us again we thought maybe she just planned on settling it with us when we paid our bill, but when it came time to pay no apology, no discount, nothing. She just said in a snarky voice " Thanks for coming in today" and took our money.
The funny thing is even after the dirty booth, the long wait, and the bad meals if she had only even cared the smallest bit, I wouldn't be leaving this review.
Obviously times are tough and we know it's especially hard for small business owners so we considered maybe that's why they didn't offer to correct the problem---but courtesy and respect are free and we got none of that either.
One good thing: The little pickled turnip slice was tasty, but definitely didn't make up for the rest.
Overall I can't recommend eating here and hope this review might help other people so their money is not wasted...
Read moreI recently dined at Ghada Have It on Military Road in Niagara Falls, New York, and had a pleasant experience overall. The owner, Basher, recommended the 7 spice chicken platter, which was on ($3 off) discount at $13.99. While the chicken had a very thick coating of spices, including clove and cinnamon, which was quite overpowering in flavour and texture, the complimentary fried pita chips and pita bread were a delight. The tzatziki sauce was also excellent. Rice was average but salad was refreshing.
The restaurant is small, with only nine tables, creating a casual family atmosphere. There is also a room at the back for a private party or very large group. There is a decent single main floor washroom for patrons. While they are currently in the process of obtaining a liquor license, they offer a selection of soft drinks, coffee, and tea.
I enjoyed chatting with Basher about his family and heritage; they are originally from Nazareth, but now proud, patriotic Americans. It was interesting to learn that they opened their business during the pandemic in October 2020 at a different location. The dining room has a TV playing the Food Network, adding to the casual ambiance.
The only downside was the lack of customer Wi-Fi, which may be a consideration for some like me on a road trip. Overall, Ghada Have It offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with authentic food and...
