Schriefer's Armonk Deli & Catering — Restaurant in Town of North Castle

Short version: After an employee took my order with airpods in his ears, he became irrationally angry and argumentative with me and made his coworkers and other customers visibly uncomfortable when I told him an item in my order was incorrect. Including throwing a container across a counter in irritation.

Long version: I've previously rated this place very highly, but i'm afraid after recent experiences im going to change my review.

I went into the shop the other day and ordered breakfast. As I was checking my bag I noticed I had received a small side of hash browns instead of bacon. Not a big deal, I can understand mishearing "small side of bacon" as "small side of fries" to some extent.

I returned to the shop with the container of hash brown in hand. I want to be clear on this next part here, I did not enter the shop aggressively or confrontationally. I walked up to the counter and said something along the lines of "Hey, I wanted a side of bacon but i think I got hash browns instead".

Upon hearing this the young man behind the counter became irrationally upset. He started to angrily berate me, implying it was my fault the order was wrong, and that he confirmed multiple times that was what I wanted. His aggressive demeanor surprised me, and thinking he may have mistaken me for someone else I told him he hadn't asked me twice. That seemed to only irritate him more; He shook his head and bluntly said "Give it to me" gesturing towards the container in my hand.

Then, in an incredible display of immature anger, he took the container from me and SLAMMED it down on the counter beside him making a loud noise that visibly made his coworkers, and the nearby customers, wildly uncomfortable.

Afterwards, he wrapped some bacon up in tinfoil while visibly shaking his head in irritation at me. I left in a hurry after that. But there are three things I want to mention about this ridiculous encounter.

When he took my order he had airpods in. This makes his hostility and confidence that i misspoke that much more ridiculous.

These potatoes could not have cost more then $3, and the bacon more then $5. His anger over this made zero sense, and his response even more uncalled for.

This particular employee had given me attitude before, but nothing like this had occurred before.

I've been a regular at this place for a few years, but i think i'm going to start looking for a different deli to go to. I shouldn't have to worry about being berated by an employee with anger issues whenever my order is incorrect. Especially over $3...

This review is hard to write. Grew up in armonk.... Used to be the best. Now it's one of the worst. Overpriced. Used to be my go too for a great bacon egg and cheese every morning for years and years. Used to be perfect sunny side eggs, loads of bacon, and delicious melted cheese. Now, since the new ownership, a bacon egg and cheese on a wedge not only cost 15$, it barley has 3 peices of bacon. Eggs are always overcooked. Also, if you dare ask for extra bacon, it's a pricey upcharge for a whole 1 extra piece of bacon. Lunch is terrible as well. They really need to match their food to the quality of armonk and their prices. They charge a premium for this location but failed misrably at delivering quality food. Honestly, it should be ashamed. I really like this place! The food was exceptional, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Although the prices were slightly higher than expected, it's understandable considering the current economic climate where everything seems to be on the pricier side. The buffet selection was impressive, featuring two varieties of vegetables and two types of meat. The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful, and the meatloaf was absolutely delicious. One of the conveniences of this establishment is its ample parking options, both in the rear and on the street. I visited during lunch, and it wasn't crowded, making for a pleasant dining experience.
