Carvel — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

Take your receipts people! I bought a medium cake for $32, to celebrate my aunt who had just purchased a house. I paid by credit card, declined the receipt and walked out of the store.

A few days later, I checked my credit card and realized I had been overcharged by $19. I called the store to explain that I had bought a cake for $32 but was charged $51 inadvertently. The person answering the phone told me they would check the cameras and call me back. She called me back quickly and said they couldn’t check the cameras but what I said wasn’t possible because the $52 receipt showed 3 different items. I explained to her that I would be happy to email over a time stamped picture of the cake. After the woman basically called me a liar and said she would have the owner call me. A few days went by and I never got a call, I followed up a couple of times demanding to speak to the owner. The woman eventually said again I was wrong but she said that the owner offered to refund me for the entire $52 as he “didn’t want any trouble.” I explained to the woman that I only wanted to be refunded for the $19 difference as I did indeed purchase the $32 cake. I demanded for the owner to call me but...

This is such a nice Carvel! We wanted a cake for our son in law and he loves Carvel and this store has everything! We found exactly what we wanted and when my husband asked the operator how old the cake was, she looked at her watch and said, "about 3 hours..." She has such a friendly personality, and GREAT cake decorating! She wrote what we asked on the cake and it is just perfect. We know he's going to smile when we sing to him. P.S. The store has great parking in its own little lot, the store is clean, many cake styles to choose from, they even have boxed "cupcake sized" ice cream treats like you could serve for a small party. There are prepackaged ice cream cones with all sorts of toppings individually wrapped or you can get your own ice cream where they make you a cup or cone with your choice of toppings right there. AND - there is a selection of dairy-free sorbet that they can scoop for you! This store is great, and we would travel to come back when the need arises!...

I’m not one to complain nor give “bad” reviews. I believe in positive reinforcement and acknowledgement of great customer service. However, the treatment I received upon entering this Carvel location was atrocious! We were not greeted instead I was stared at with disgusted looks. I had a few empty bottles in my hands, which I threw away in their indoor garbage can. The two female associates gave me dirty looks when I was done and began to whisper in each others ears which made me feel uncomfortable as if they were gossiping about me. I then went to pick out an ice cream cake and asked if they can write on it and they failed to answer my question and snatched the cake out of my hands. Therefore, I looked at my husband and told him I was not pleased with their customer service and we should just leave. I also noticed they have horrible reviews on yelp due to the lack of quality customer service. This location needs a revamp on attitudes and...
