Orwashers New York’s Original Artisan Bakery is an instant success for Roslyn and all of Long Island filling a niche for a fresh delicious bakery/cafe that’s been missing forever and the customers are coming in all day long from all over the island. Keith Cohen has hit it out of the park with this outpost of the NYC institution that’s over a century old. These are old world recipes and they’re probably better than ever. Artisan Bread, cakes, cookies and pastries. Sandwich’s, coffee, tea and my personal favorites like Onion Pockets, Focaccia and Challah. But there’s so many other options that could be favorites too. Don’t sleep on the great Chicken Noodle Soup that comes with a half a loaf of Sourdough bread. It’s really tasty and delicious. It’s a fresh, cool, clean shop, and Orwasher’s organized staff is friendly and efficient.
(I’ve read the negative comments below and disagree with all of them, I don’t understand how people can be so critical and judgmentally negative to a brand new business that came out of the city to our community with the best possible intentions. And giving a business like this one star? How’s that even remotely possible? People who do that because they feel the sandwich was missing an ounce of turkey should be ashamed. It costs a fortune to open a shop like this. support is better than bashing or...

What is it trying to be? if it's trying to be a New York Jewish bakery I think it's failing because it doesn't taste anything like that. It doesn't smell like that with everything packaged in sealed plastic. You certainly don't smell a thing. It's not inviting. Before you get your 2 feet in the door, one of the people behind the counter is asking "can I help you" and you're out the door in two minutes flat. You don't even get a chance to look at anything although frankly, there's not much to look at. All the stuff tastes the same and that is not a compliment... Except there is one winner, and that is the seeded rye bread. Note that I was a regular customer in the Manhattan store for years, but this outpost has a corporate feel to it and unlike Manhattan, it has no neighborhood aspect to it. It is cold and unwelcoming and like I said you're out before you are even...
Read moreLocated in Roslyn Heights, the new Orwashers location evoked memories of my frequent visits to their farmers market booth. The enticing variety of breads and pastries delighted me, and I was thrilled to discover a diverse selection of mouthwatering sandwiches, bagels with lox, and delectable donuts.
Among their offerings, the famous lox bagel stood out as the best I've ever had. Their top-notch sourdough and Swiss health sliced breads were equally delightful. The bakery was clean, and the friendly, attentive service added to the overall wonderful experience.
For all the food enthusiasts in Roslyn Heights, this haven of deliciousness is a must-visit! The addition of new items, such as sandwiches and enticing donuts, makes it even more compelling. I'm eagerly looking forward to my next visit to Orwashers, and if you're in the area and love delightful bread and pastries, I wholeheartedly recommend checking out this...
