Mangia is a very classy high class restaurant. I’ve been there once n it will be the first and last time I’m spending my money on their food. It was five of us and one child. When we arrived a lady sat us down she was very nice and welcoming so it was already a good impression from us. However I’m Muslim and I wear the headscarf so everyone kinda glanced at us as we were walkin to our table. This was nothing new we always have people looking at us so it didn’t really bother us. We were served our drinks and all of us got a vibe that they were very bias. We asked for another cup for the child and we didn’t get the drink. So she had to share with us. We ordered our food and it took very very long. Mind you we only ordered three meals because they come in large quantities so it wasn’t to much for them to take that long. When we were served our food like 4 workers came to serve us one had a water pitch to refill our drinks the other with the cheese another holding one of our meals and another just standing there. They were being very sketchy and all of us noticed it. The food was alright but I found a piece of hair in my food. We asked for hot sauce and it was disgusting. It tasted old. I sat there for at least 20 min waiting for an employee to check up on us. Finally when the man came I told him n he took it n asked if I wanted another one, I told him no. Btw the 4 employees that came n served us kept walking by, they were scattered everywhere. I seen one of the ladies standing by the door like a statue staring at our table. At this point I wanted to leave the restaurant. When the worker gave us our bill they didn’t take off the third meal, I would say the guy knew it Because he was acting as if he was doing something at another table that was clean he was just acting like he was fixing the salt and pepper. We called him over and told him that he’s charging us for the third dinner. He was just like oh thats my fault and whatever. The driver (my aunt) told us to all go to the car while she pays for the bill, as we were walkin out the 4 employees that served us were in a group talking. As we walked out the door the First Lady that welcomed us told us to have a good night. I could tell she genuinely didn’t have anything against us. She wasn’t in the group where the 4 employees were. My aunt said as she walked out they all stared at her and didn’t even tell her goodbye or anything. This experience was horrible and I can’t believe I witnessed this. I read the reviews online and they were all very good but I wasn’t expecting this mistreatment to happen. The one and only star is just because of the First Lady that...
Read moreMade reservations for Mangia Ristorante and Caffe for a Saturday evening 5p. Pulled up to the very huge restaurant, takes up the whole corner you can't miss it. I believe there is an upstairs for parties and such. It was very cold that evening so we took advantage of the free valet parking. We were seated promptly in the beautifully decorated dining room. Our waitress (I believe her name was Alexis) was very knowledgeable and courteous. We both ordered a cocktail. I ordered the lemon drop martini and my friend ordered a blueberry (something) martini they both were very very good. Thumbs up to the bartender. For the appetizer I ordered the roasted brussel sprouts. Although they were not on the menu they were a side for one of the daily specials. The owner was nice enough to allow me to get the brussel sprouts just as an appetizer. They were undercooked for my liking. Taste like they were blanched and hot water then quickly roasted but still hard in the inside. I ate a few and took the rest home and roasted them the next day, delicious! For the entree my friend ordered the tortellini which she said was amazing. I ordered the lasagna with a side of Gorgonzola cheese sauce. PRO: The portions are extremely huge, enough to feed three people. So we both had leftovers to take home. My lasagna came out nice and hot, smelled yummy but when I took a bite I was disappointed, it was just meh okay. The noodles were soft & mushy. However, I took it home and my daughter ate half for her late dinner and the other half for lunch the next day. So it definitely wasn't a waste. Overall a nice establishment but I personally prefer Sinatra's on...
Read moreIf I could rate the service a zero I would. My friend recommend we go to this restaurant so we gave it a try. Food was alright and atmosphere was okay but the service was horrible . We ordered our food and waited forever to get our entrees and dessert and check. Since we were waiting so long for our food , we asked for more bread. Our server made me feel so weird for asking for more because she looked angry and annoyed . When we received our bread it was thrown onto the table with no words or smile from the server . We didn’t even receive the same bread as we did the first time and the pieces looked torn by hand and not sliced . The server NEVER checked on us when we received our entree and never offered us more water . After dinner we received a box to put leftovers in, however , for some reason the server did not ask to pack our food even though she was asking other tables . After we ordered dessert , we waited forever to get one slice of raspberry cheesecake . This was THROWN onto the table as well. Never have I ever experienced such bad service from a restaurant . That being said , I will never be coming back to this establishment again. I would not recommend wasting your money here . Buffalo has more Italian restaurants with better service and good food .
