My sister recently went to Village Tailor for her wedding dress alterations and was horrified by her experience. This is her experience written by her: “From day 1 the women did not listen to me. I told her to not alter the shoulders...went back to try on and she altered the shoulders. At the second try on, we discussed how to sew in the skirt to the dress. At the third visit the skirt was not attached to the dress, and I had to wait for it to be done. The women completely forgot. While we were there for my last/third appointment, she continually took walk in alternations and made me wait in my dress while we were in the middle of the appointment. I find this very unprofessional. One of the walk ins was a man picking up his pants, and I’m not even sure she could find the man’s pants after searching for several minutes, as the man left empty handed. The worst part of my experience was the payment process. I went to the business three separate times and every time there was only a sign stating that they accept only cash or check. As we pulled out the check book, she proceeded to tell us she no longer accepts checks for bridal alterations. However, this information was never made known to me at any of my appointments or phone discussions, especially given the fact that the current sign did not denote a different payment process for bridal alterations. The women argued with us, stating that she was changing her policy. But, she never notified us of this change at all. She kept saying her lawyer had told her to put a new sign up, but that she’s never gotten around to it, and still demanded that we comply with this new policy change. Finally, after a good amount of time arguing, she accepted the little bit of cash we had on hand, and accepted the remaining payment in a check form. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to this business. It is...
Read moreI came here to get my wedding dress altered as well as to add an entire back on to my once backless wedding dress! Sue is amazing and made it possible to get everything done in the small amount of time we had before my wedding. My dress came in too small so she had to let it out, and with the amount of beading on my dress that was not an easy fix! I also wanted a back created on my dress because I just did not feel comfortable with the whole back open, even though I loved the rest of the dress. Sue worked on my dress non-stop and I went in for a final fitting the day before my wedding and she continued to make fixes, stayed late, and I ended up going in after they had closed for the night to try it on one final time and was able to take it with me! It turned out so amazing and it looks like it always had this back on it, it was meant to be!
Additionally, my bridesmaids went here as well to all get their dresses fitted and she did a great job on those as well! The front had to be tacked closed because of a weird opening across the chest and then she also did a normal fitting for each girl.
All in all, everyone was happy with the outcomes,...
Read moreThis review is like 5 years late but when someone was talking about a bad experience they had with a tailor, it brought me back to how lucky I was to have a good experience. I had my wedding dress altered there and Sue did an amazing job. When she was done, my dress fit perfect and I felt so good in it! I also want to talk about someone else's alterations. While I was there, she had to re-work someone else's wedding dress. This person had a baby like a few weeks earlier. She bought the dress awhile ago, found out she was pregnant right after, but planned to just get down to her pre-baby weight and wear the dress. Well, circumstances arose where she had to get married right after the baby was born. I watched as Sue consulted with her and made so many changes to this dress to make it beautiful for the bride's wedding day. I was in awe of her work. It is very daunting choosing a seamstress for your wedding dress but with the work Sue did on my dress as well as everything she did to this other customer's dress, I trust her (and I do NOT trust easily on these...
