French Workshop: A Delightful Culinary Retreat in Plainview, NY

French Workshop, a charming bakery and cafe nestled in Plainview, NY, is a hidden gem that I recently had the pleasure of discovering. This delightful establishment offers a sumptuous array of sandwiches, pastries, and coffee, all served in a cozy indoor setting that transports you to the heart of France. Here's why I can't stop raving about my visit:

  1. Authentic French Flavors: From the moment you step inside French Workshop, the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries fills the air. The menu features a delectable assortment of sandwiches made with high-quality ingredients that evoke the essence of French cuisine. The croissants and baguettes are exceptionally flaky and buttery, transporting your taste buds to the streets of Paris.

  2. Mouthwatering Pastries: The pastry selection at French Workshop is nothing short of heavenly. Their croissants, pain au chocolat, éclairs, and macarons are a testament to the bakery's commitment to traditional French recipes. Each bite is a blissful experience for the senses.

  3. Expertly Crafted Coffee: The coffee at French Workshop is rich and flavorful, making it the perfect complement to your pastry or sandwich. The baristas take pride in their craft, creating expertly brewed coffee that's sure to satisfy even the most discerning caffeine connoisseur.

  4. Cozy Ambiance: The indoor seating area exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere, with charming decor and comfortable seating. Whether you're visiting for a quick bite or to linger over coffee and pastries, the warm and welcoming environment makes it a perfect spot to enjoy your meal.

  5. Attentive Service: The staff at French Workshop is both friendly and attentive, providing top-notch service with a genuine smile. They're more than willing to offer recommendations and ensure your visit is nothing short of exceptional.

  6. Fresh and High-Quality Ingredients: The commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients is evident in every bite. Whether it's the crisp lettuce in your sandwich or the creamy chocolate in your pastry, you can taste the dedication to quality in every dish.

  7. Community Engagement: French Workshop often hosts events and workshops, fostering a sense of community and a love for French culture. It's a wonderful place to connect with fellow food enthusiasts and Francophiles.

In summary, French Workshop in Plainview, NY, is a slice of France in the heart of Long Island. It's a place where you can savor the simple pleasures of life – a freshly baked croissant, a well-brewed coffee, and the company of friends or a good book. Whether you're a foodie, a Francophile, or simply in search of a culinary escape, this charming bakery and cafe is a must-visit destination. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little taste of France right in their...

I got to say that I tried this place last week in Astoria through my brother's recommendation and was kind of impressed with the quality yet disappointed in the service so I'm driving back home today and happened to see there was another location in Plainview and there's really no system in this place it's run by a bunch of young kids that are probably going to college and doing this as a side gig and no one is looking to you with a good morning or hello or an acknowledgment that you're there maybe because the people in this community are quite snotty and so is the staff I had asked one person that I wanted a couple of croissants and a cup of coffee and she told me the coffees on the other end but she never wanted to putting the croissants on the side for me so I was kind of puzzle so when the cashier rolled his eyes at me telling me that I had to order the croissants from the bar I just told him that I was knew and didn't know the system I wish I was wearing my Ray-Ban Mega glasses so I could have recorded the whole interaction you see I've owned many businesses and I would never in a million years allow my staff to leave someone standing there looking at the ceiling when they could be accommodating them you know you only have a 42% chance of somebody returning especially since there are so many places out there that you can get a croissant and a cup of coffee yet this place staff seems to live up to the French attitude I guess that's what you're paying for majority of the people there were quiet and knew their place but the staff all seemed very upset with the Patriots I don't believe this is their calling they should find something that they excel in dealing with the public is not for everyone but if you're forced to do it you should try to find the most positive attitude especially if you're looking for a tip now I tip everyone generously but today I only know because he was very Stern with me about ordering and should have been a little bit more understanding there's nothing written on the wall that states order here and pay over there there were about a dozen patrons ahead of me all looking bewildered just as I but it only opened my eyes to want to open a spite store in this community seeing that they're so busy here and the prices are pretty reasonable I think opening up a spite store would put everyone...

On Friday November 29th. 2024 , Around 4pm I went into The French workshop with my 4year old son we ordered 6 macaroons, A slice of crumb cake, and another dessert which I forgot the name of. We sat down had the slice and my four year old son had one macaroon . I had also ordered 2 cups of hot chocolate. We were given a Small bag which I did not opened in the store . I assumed the rest of the macaroons were in there with the crumb cake, which we told the cashier we would take to go. Upon arrival at home, I open the small bag to realize that our macaroons did not leave the store. We did not receive our macaroons.

My four year old immediately started to say how disappointed he was and I should call the store so I called the store and I spoke to a gentleman the same gentleman who actually put our order together. I knew this because he started to describe my son, and he remembered my name . I told him we will be back tomorrow to pick up the macaroons. He told me no problem just ask for the manager he will leave a note so everyone is aware.

Saturday around the same time. My 4 year old and I went back to the store. I asked for the Manager, there was a young man at the counter . He asked what was the issue I explained to him what happened yesterday and I have proof on my credit card. I spent over $22.00 This young man started to make a face and started to give me an attitude saying that if I purchased all of that it should’ve been more than $22. While I was trying to explain to him he Started to say speak up I can’t hear you with a very disgusting tone and an attitude !! I had to ask him if he really thought I would be lying or stealing six macaroons!! I started to raise my voice because I couldn’t believe someone would really think that I wasn’t being sincere, especially with my four year-old! then A young lady came over saying she was a Manager and started to apologize to me because the young man made it seem like I was making this up because I did not have a receipt. I showed him my credit card give him my credit card information and he still did believe me. I will never return to the French...

Let me begin by saying I’m a “big” fan of The French Workshop
Sadly, my experience tonight was a bit underwhelming, so, my review is mixed. The pastries we chose were great, truly delicious tasting and absolutely “beautiful”. The barista didn’t add enough flavor to my wife’s coffee, so, we had to ask for an adjustment (it happens); however, at 8:40pm, a new barista arrived and made loud noises as he was literally “throwing” metal cups behind the counter & screaming to another staff member. This was so distracting, we nearly left. There were no paper towels in the bathroom and the hand dryer isn’t working. The dirty dishes were piled up & weren’t taken away. Little nuances like these make a big difference when you want to enjoy your coffee and pastries in house. I am sorry if these comments come across as harsh, but, I want to be fair and constructive as I know how hard it is to run a food business. Moving forward, you may want to assign a supervisor or manager to be on duty to help “see” what’s going on. I’m confident my next experience will be better.
