I hadn't even parked before a kid was standing where I was going to park in my spot. Assuming he was going to his own vehicle I paused and he approached my to rapidly take my order. (My first time here my friend has been here before) I was trying to look at the menu and wasn't given time was rushed through ordering. When I went inside to add to my incomplete order, the girl at the counter made zero eye contact with me besides to roll he eyes and mumble "I'll add it to the order" mind you I hadn't even said the full addition and she wouldn't turn around or reply to me after. You assume I was rude right? I'd assume that. We'd both be wrong. I came it and all the words u got out were "hi can I add to my order" before she rolled her eyes turned towards the cook to continue laughing and joking and that's when she mumbled she'd add it. Tbh idek if the foods going to be right. But an impression was made and I sadly don't want to come back.
Just saw there's a root beer float, would have been nice to know when ordering. Would be nice to feel comfortable going in to order that instead. Sad.
Sitting outside still waiting for my food and the younger girl is walking around taking orders but missing no opportunity to glare at myself and my friend as she does so. Again l. I HAVENT COMPLAINED OR BEEN RUDE. Who ever is out on vacation they've openly stated about being out it's really showing they need you here...
Read moreI went during the lunch time rush. I had the Red Hots (hot dogs with meat sauce) and Onion Rings. The Red Hots were good. The Onion Rings we nothing special, fresh from the freezer section. The service was fast and good, especially for time of our visit.
They only accepts cash and local checks (I'm not sure if local means Plattsburgh residents or United States residents), they do have an ATM on site for those who are unprepared.
The price of $2.29 (or maybe $2.49, I don't remember nor do I have a receipt) each seems a little high for a standard sized hot dog with some delicious (in my opinion) sauce and onions, I didn't see or ask if they had any specials, but I would expect one exists.
I'm giving 4 stars because of the Red Hots (5 star), Onion Rings (2 star), service (5 star) and lack of accepting plastic.
This place is worth the stop if your passing by and have space in your tummy. I will definitely be coming back, unless they blacklist me for...
Read more5 stars shouldn’t be handed out for giggles. That said, this location of the area’s McSweeney’s Red Hots chain is the best (IMHO). For years the staff has ran around bussing tables, serving patrons, and car hopping (in terrible weather at times). Service Is always fast and the employee move 3-4 times faster than staff at any other business in the area code. Food is exactly what you would expect and deserve (and you can even get a pint of their signature sauce for the road). Bathrooms are refreshed this year and as clean as the rest of the location. Pro tip: don’t come right at lunch and get mad that service is a little slower (but still faster than most). Bring cash, this place doesn’t line the corporate pockets of Visa and MC. Also, try the milkshake. If you’re feeling froggy, ask for it extra thick. If you don’t like what you eat or the service, I’ll treat you to a visit to give them a second...
