The hotel exterior was very quaint, the blue was a very distinct color, The room was clean and functional, The bed was acceptable, bathroom clean and well stocked. I really like the little kitchenette. I stayed there three nights and booked an extra fourth night. Now this is why I took down a few stars down. I've been too many hotels in my lifetime, from Hilton, Sheraton to basics like holiday inn and comfort inn. And because I visit Plattsburgh to see my boyfriend who lives there, I often extend my stays to prolong my visit. After the second night, I went to reception to check to make sure they are aware of my extended stay so there would be no trouble and I would not be bothered with a check out request (maid knocking on my door asking me to check out). I've had no issues with other hotels at all, they often designate the room and let the maids know that I won't need my room to be cleaned. I'm a writer, so I don't like to be bothered. Well on the fourth day, I got a very rude call at 11:07am, telling me I need to check out. I told the other person on the phone, I had already checked with front desk yesterday, that I'll be staying another night. She checked and saw indeed I did have another night booked, then asked me to come down to the front desk so they can swipe my credit card, I obliged. The front desk asked to see my credit card, stating that they need to make sure it wasn't fraudulent....this to me seems like very rude, he was short of outright accusing me of something. I am someone who I quiet and do like to make a fuss, but I felt it was unfair treatment of me. They had checked my credit card upon my initial arrival (that I completely understand as all hotels do this), so why would they need to do it again? And they didn't even need to swipe it again...safe to say I was not happy with their behaviour towards me. The maids were nice and helpful and do a great job of keeping the rooms clean, but the front desk was rude and unprofessional during the majority of my stay.
If I can help it, I don't intend to stay at this hotel ever again, I go to Plattsburgh almost once a month....I rather pay more to other hotels. I give three stars for the clean room, the nice kitchenette. I didn't like how the tv was set up either, as it's common, for well seasoned travellers to use some streaming devices but their tv being so high up on a wardrobe, it's not possible to plug a google Chromecast or Roku.
I had a personal unpleasant experience but if you are someone who isn't bothered by rude staff, then this hotel is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis business may present various health hazards to its customers. My family and I certainly were effected by poor maintenance of the plumbing, and a/c system in our room. The bathroom had seriously clogged drains. Immediately noticeable in the sink and in the bath tub afforded ankle deep water before shower ended. Horrible. The air condition unit was absolutely filthy with deep layer of dirt on the filter and coil, and interior framework. I sent pictures of conditions to management after I politely reported unacceptable conditions. My report was not taken in a seriously manner by sun-standard unsocial front desk. The official response from management and ownership was dismissive as well. In actuality, the entire staff conspired against me by presenting me with unnecessary lying saying I refused services, and denied access to room. They did admit that the a/c was neglected and filthy. We suffered allergic reactions caused by filth. Owner offered not even an apology. The response follows. It is an outrageous collection of lies. Very sad reflection on the morality of the staff: Per your request, we looked into this case and found you had neglected to inform us of several things: namely that our front desk agent had offered to take care of your PTAC unit right away, and you declined all services offered, or even entrance to the room so that Front Desk could verify and assist. We have acknowledged that the state of the PTAC filter was not up to par for us, and should have been corrected immediately. You declined our offer to correct things that same day and chose to escalate this issue to Wyndham Customer Care after completing your entire stay with us. Management also saw that you were offered and have accepted 4,500 Wyndham Points in recompense for your inconvenience. Which we note you have already applied to a reservation. To then grant you a cash refund would be redundant. Wyndham Customer Care as well as our General Manager have closed this case as your accepting the points...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis Microtel has very nice rooms, not spacious, but not cramp either. Everything looks new and fresh; the lobby, the elevator, the halls and the rooms. Not sure what year this read built it renovated, but it must be recent. They have a few "suites" as well, which is what we stayed in. The room basically has a queen size bed on each side of a middle island. The island has a sink, coffee maker and fridge. They also put a wardrobe closet in the same area. This acts has a half wall, so no privacy, but separation. Which is nice if you want to look at your phone after the kids go to bed. They also have an option if a bed and soda bed. There bed by the window has a little star with a cushioned seat, which could function as a small breed if your child won't roll off, as it is quite high up. My only complaint about the room is lack of accessible plus near the bed. There were none! I had my phone at the foot of the bed and my wife had hers on the island counter (although with a long enough charging cord, she could reach it to the bed). This is a major oversight in our connected world. The lobby is very poorly designed for function m it looks great, open and bright. But then when it functions as a breakfast room, it's silly. There is not enough country space and no refrigeration. The yogurts eye sitting in a Tupperware container in ice, that was sitting in an end table. Your choices were very router bananas, three cold cereals and one type of muffin, in addition to yoghurt. I mean, it's free, but lacking from many other continental breakfasts I've seen. Sorry that may be due to lack or space sure to poor design. Overall, I give it for stars because I want expecting a great breakfast (although better than that), and the room and hotel were otherwise very nice. Improve the plug situation by the beds and add a mini fridge, oatmeal, toast and toaster and I'll give you five stars. But I would hesitate to stay here next time I'm on my...
