I went in to grab some dinner with my family and was unfortunate to end up with Joe on the grill. My sub was cold in the middle and very undercooked so I was unable to eat it at all. Now if this had been the first time a mistake had happened with Joe I would be more understanding. The previous month my husband went to grab me a nice grilled sub and observed Joe not fully paying attention. My husband did not want to outright say he was wrong and instead asked him if he had made the sub a grilled chicken. Joe replied yes, twice and then with attitude on the third time. My husband asked as he was handed the sub "Grilled, right?" Joe gave him an annoyed look and replied yes. I opened the sub and it was fried. We brought it in and he never apologized then just as he did not now. Joe does not take the job seriously and will not admit his mistake. Both times he made someone else apologize. Today Emily was the recipient of his attitude. She was fantastic, going above and beyond to try and make things right while still being rudely spoken too in the back. Emily was extremely professional and showed us fantastic respect. 5 Star service from Emily. Joe needs to take time to understand that when you are working with peoples food you must show respect and care a little bit at least. I will come back because hopefully Emily will be there to fill our needs. Should we arrive and Joe is cooking...

Jreck subs in Potsdam does this as well, with the addition of lots of other food items you can't find at Subway or other national chains. For example, you can get fresh salads, sweet potato fries, fried pickle chips, or have your sub prepared as a salad. This is why I give them four stars for the food. Otherwise the subs are pretty much ok, not great really at all.
The service depends on when you go and where, but usually it's pretty good. Staff are friendly, if not always organized and greet you promptly. They do have a cash tip jar, however I wish they would provide the option of a credit card tip, as many folks don't carry cash anymore.
The only real downside of Jrecks is the atmosphere. It's channeling some high school cafeteria vibes. The benches and tables are basic, and the decor is early 1980's browns and tans. It's not the kind of place you really want to sit down and eat your food. I always do take out.
I do think the quality has gone way down since the 1980s and 90s when I used to eat at these sub shops regularly. The bread is not as good, and the toppings are lower quality and less plentiful. But that is the way corporate America is trending: give less,...

Their rolls are the best as are their ingredients. They always seem to always be able to manage a sudden influx of traffic with little or no trouble. And seem to be staffed accordingly. These subs have remained the same over the years with the exception of the rolls. They, in my opinion, taste the same, but the recipe has changed slightly. In fact, so slightly most except the oldest and most die hard Jreck fans are the only ones to ever notice. The sandwich shop has also greatly expanded its menu options in some locations, but this will vary according to shop to shop. However, for all those people who return to Northern NY for a vacation, reunion or other occasions will still find the familiar favorites and tastes that brought them to Jrecks all...
