Atmosphere? If you have never experienced, “authentic” Indian culture, this is the place to go. The staff are so polite and accommodating that at times you feel like a guest in their home and not just a customer. The women are pretty with warm smiles and the men are generous with their smiles and exude confidence in their menu. All of them are eager to please and intent on making sure your meal is perfect.
The food? Simply amazing and again, “Authentic.” My biggest regret is not being able to try everything on the menu. I recommend you go with a group of people so all of you can share and experience different food they have to offer. They also have gluten free options which is important having two kids with celiac disease. We have been there numerous times and not one instance of cross contamination. Goat and lamb “are” on the menu. I recommend you try both.
Price? My family consists of 2 adults, 2 teenaged boys and a teenage daughter. In and out the door for under 15$ is the standard. We average around 20$ per person. We tend to go overboard on appetizers. lol. Today they gifted us rice pudding after our meal. The flavors were amazing. Thankfully it was a small bowl because we all were about to pop. We always leave with around 5 lbs. of leftovers. Plenty to have a second meal.
I have so much more to say but I think you should find out for yourselves. Don’t take my word for it. I challenge you to find anything I said to...
Read moreIf you are a hungry college student or just passing through Potsdam, NY, check out Royal India Grill. The restaurant is between Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, and offers customers a variety of different dishes during lunch.
Having read the reviews on Google, I decided to drive out there myself. The restaurant is very nice and clean, and there's always an attentive waiter refilling waters and seeing if you need anything. Now, I can't say how things are during dinner time or if you are ordering takeout. But if you are stopping by for the lunch buffet, it's worth the money. During my time here, I had the Chicken Marsala, Chili Paneer, Goat Saag, Plain Biryani, Onion Chutney, and Regular Naan. I also ordered Garlic Naan, Chicken Naan and Mango Lassi. The food was wonderful and you could taste all the seasoning and spices that went into each dish.
The only thing that I will mention to new customers is to bring a few coins for the parking meters. Also, if you like the Naan bread like myself, you'll have to order a few...
Read moreVisited for the first time March 19th. We traveled 60 miles and this was our first Indian cuisine since before Covid. Having visited many Indian restaurants in many places we hoped it would be good. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent being perfectly spiced and well balanced. I've learned that you can get a good feel for the talent in the kitchen by how they flavor Currys. I had Chicken Curry spiced hot. For me, it was great! Excellent build of flavors that slowly reveal themselves with a bit of heat at the end. Not a distracting heat but enough to get some Endorphins released to let you know you're having a good time! The place was hoppin', service was slow but hey, getting to go out for Indian food for the first time in months was fantastic. They opened two weeks ago and are still getting their "sea legs". I applaud anyone opening a business now and am sure with community support...
