I went to Kobe Hibachi restaurant located in the Hudson Plaza in Poughkeepsie (Japanese Restaurant) for the first time with my 11 year old granddaughter to celebrate her birthday early. We ordered lunch but had the choice of either lunch or dinner. The menu has a lot of choices other than hibachi. You can order 🍣 sushi, etc... I ordered a combo of filet mignon and shrimp hibachi with fried rice. It comes with soup (mushroom and scallions in a clear broth) in addition to salad with the choice of a few different dressings. Vegetables were also included which were onions, broccoli, a couple of carrot pieces and squash. I also ordered a Coke and a water. My meal was very delicious and mouth-watering! My granddaughter ordered the chicken and fried rice hibachi meal. She ordered her non-alcoholic drink of choice, a Shirley Temple that came in a glass bottle. She really enjoyed her lunch and ate quite a bit of it. Both of us and other diners seated around the family style table had a fun time watching the Chef cook the food, chop it up very adeptly, perform special moves with his cooking tools and tell mini jokes. It was so entertaining. No chance of being bored. So this is what else happens at the hibachi table. The chef lights up the hibachi grill to get things started up. Then a big flame 🔥 erupts in front of you as you're seated. You can feel the intense heat, see the flames and a cloud of smoke in front of you. This makes you react in awe or maybe a little scared. Lol.. Both of our meals altogether came to about $42.00. So I would say it's safe to expect spending about $15.00 to $20.00 per person. The service is good and the waitresses are polite and courteous too. If you look at Kobe's online menu the prices appear to be less money than on the menu in the actual restaurant. I don't know if they raised their prices and just didn't update it online or what? I definitely recommend making a stop at this Japanese restaurant.. I have added photos and videos of the building, the food, the menu and the chef's role in making the entire...
Read moreDon't go to this place, because they demand tips (that are not mandatory in the US, they are given according to the graciousness and professionalism of the staff) with that being said, making the story short, me and my spouse went to eat, we sat down with another couple. We ordered steak and chicken the other people ordered shrimp and chicken (ours being more money) the chef and staff catered more to the other couple in food distribution, the chef gave the other couple our steak (we don't eat shrimp) and a predominant amout of vegetables (that the couple did not eat but discarded) giving us more noodles than anything else, when it came to paying the bill, I am always in charge of the tip, so when my husband went to pay via charge, I tip cash, when I gave the tip, the waiter said to me," you are supposed to pay 12%!" Referring to the mandated 12% included, which we didn't mind paying, but my husband was taking care of that, I was paying extra being gracious. I told the waiter, "my husband is paying that via card, and I am tipping cash", this made me not want to give a tip because of His audacity 😤, trying to tell me how to tip and provide them with extra money! We paid and left...personally, the experience was a negative one, the food and the demand for extra tips and the catering to others by sharing food we paid for and hardly received was a waste of time and money, so naturally we will NEVER go there again. With all the other restaurants in the area, we should have gone elsewhere!!!!! Not a good...
Read moreKobe hibachi made my family and I feel very uncomfortable and Un-welcomed on Mother’s Day, May 9th 2021. We have always ordered food for delivery from Kobe Hibachi no problem. We wanted to dine in for Mother’s Day and the hibachi seating area was full so we got a table. We were seated around 4pm and didn’t receive our ICE COLD food until 6pm. We ordered 10 mins after being there, received our sushi entree and drinks and were ignored from that point on. A white family had came after us and order, then followed by an Asian family who was immediately served and catered too within 45 mins of being there, we remained silent and patient because we figured it was because our food took longer to prepare( we had ordered lobster and steak etc.). The white family was then served after them and we still weren’t served. After two hours of waiting and the Asian family completed their meals and wanted the bill, the white family was half way through and we finally received our COLD meal. Implicating that it has been sitting there not being attended to. When we brought it up they continuously cut us off and said they’ll microwave our food, no apology or accountability. The waiter and manager told us that it’s not their fault we have to wait and that it goes off of, “first come first serve”, we stated multiple times that we were here first and were ignored. Both families saw how they were treating us and felt it was completely wrong of them and complained. ( My mom and step dad are both black, and I look very much...
