If I could give zero stars I would. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to any one especially for custom cakes. I ordered a cake for a milestone birthday I provided reference/ inspiration photos had a consultation, provided theme and color scheme. On the day of the party I was so displeased with the cake. I hate to criticize a person's artistic ability or anything that they may create, however this cake looked like something that was done at home with no skill at all of cake artistry. The concept and colors were not cohesive. I requested 3D images and what I got was images printed on chocolate and cut out very sloppy. The words were written in a dark colors on a black cakeboard, and in a color that was nowhere to be found on the cake. I expressed how unsatisfied I was with cake and the Associate told me she could try and fix color of the words , she takes the cake then comes back and says she can have the cake decorator try and fix it would take 20 mins. I told her I live an hr away and I needed to leave to get to the party on time. She says I looked at your inspiration photos and we couldn't have done that, that would have been a $700 cake and I said that's fine but when you took my order and did the consultation then you should have expressed that you couldn't do what I asked then I could have made a decision to go with someone else. She said well there is nothing I can do. I said since it cannot be fixed then you should discount the price. She said she couldn't I'd have to wait for her manager to come in on Monday. The manager called me on Monday and I told her I was so unhappy with the cake and literally embarrassed to bring it to my nephews party. She offered a store credit. I told her no thank you, as I will not be purchasing a cake there again, I'd like the credit to be refunded to my account. She was not willing to provide the partial refund. She replied well I'm sorry and I hope you will give us a call in the future . I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone . I myself am in service and I would never be dishonest with my customers and pretend to be able to provide them anything I cannot deliver because I value my customers I would a provide a refund or whatever to rectify my incompetence. Read morePicked up my cake for my husband's birthday! Name was spelled wrong. (SCHISLIER) supposed to be Schisler. The rude girl at the front said we didn't know if this was the right spelling. I said" so you just decided to spell it the way you thought it should be, why would you call me an ask" completely unprofessional. She then returned it to have it fixed I waited a few minutes later she returned and the name is still spelled wrong. She removes the ( I)from the beginning not the end. I was even more frustrated the second time and I told her it's still spelled wrong. She then went and told me that she specifically asked me which one to remove and I told at the wrong one. Clearly I know how to spell my own last name. she was completely rude and unprofessional and it was just completely unacceptable. She did have the designer fix the name again but after fixing it twice by the third time it looked sloppy. As I was leaving she yelled out have a nice day, In a very sarcastic tone. I have already paid for another cake to be picked up in July for my daughter's first birthday, I'm very uneasy and nervous for this cake due to the unprofessionalism that I've witnessed. This person is our first thing someone sees when they walk in your front line person, they set the bar for the entire place and she's completely rude that's unacceptable. If for any reason the cake for my daughter's first birthday is not to my liking or I have another experience with unprofessionalism at this place I will never go to the pastry garden again. the only reason why I gave you a three stars is because the cake is exactly how I wanted it to look like, and they did fix the mistake the first time, but having it needing to be fix a second time and having to have someone extremely rude at the front desk completely changed my mind about the pastry garden you should evaluate your staff and reconsider who you put out...
Read moreWas stunned to discover my Napoleon wasn't fresh!!!!! My daughter from upstate NY is being treated at Sloan Kettering in NYC, I currently live just north of New Haven in Connecticut so the Poughkeepsie area has become a meeting point for use when she has appointments. Today we peeked in The Pastry Garden window & just had to go in to treat ourselves because everything looked so amazing. I settled on a napoleon, a treat I haven't had in a while. I considered having a bite before I hit the road to go home but because fresh naploeons can be so deliciously messy I opted to wait until I got home. It was a 2 hr drive home and I was so ready for a bite of pure heaven. I'm not a fan.of the thick icing on top so I was going to scrape it off - amazingly the icing came off in one big piece - I felt a little deflated thinking that's not typical of a fresh pastry. But when I started to eat it I discovered it was still slightly frozen, like a real icy bite in the center. Not only was it not fresh, the puff pastry was not flaky at all, it just seamed firm & stale. The creamy filling had a good taste and the thin layer of raspberry filling in the bottom layer was a pleasant surprise - but overall it was still very disappointing due to the quality of the puff pastry from being frozen for who knows how long. We will never again stop in there to treat ourselves, I will say all the desserts look amazing, too bad there's no guarantee what you buy will be fresh. Its a shame for a place that seems a bit upscale to sell such a disappointing product. I haven't had that kind of experience at a real bakery in all my 62 yrs....
