Even for fast food, this wasn't a great experience. According to my receipt, I waited 11 minutes until recieving my food, which is odd considering there were no cars in front of me in the drive thru at any point and it was already well past peak lunch time.
Aside from waiting way too long, I paid way too much. $20 for a beef burger, shoestring fries, and a chocolate shake isn't atrocious value, but it still felt bad. The burger was undersized considering how much that costs alone. I don't think I've ever tasted a burnt fast food burger until now. I don't HATE burnt burgers, but I'm sure this wasn't meant to be cooked like this.
The french fries were unremarkable. Probably mass produced, low quality fries that weren't seasoned very well at all. And sure they're fast food fries, but at least other competitors TRY to add a special spice to theirs.
The chocolate brownie shake tasted like a vegan chocolate protein powder, which certainly doesn't hit. The "big" size at $7 was kind of a joke too.
I was very disappointed with my first Moonburger experience. I know this is still fast food, but even for fast food it was a let down and I certainly won't...
Read moreAmazing! An experience like no other. I stopped to get gas and use the bathroom and walked in to find a trendy burger joint that caught my eye with its tasteful color-changing walls. I noticed the menu doesn't scream vegetarian, but all of the meat options specify after their description on the menu that they are vegetarian. I'm not a vegetarian, but the food smelled amazing from outside so I ordered a combo. The employee at the register greeted me with a smile and welcomed me to the restaurant before taking my order with a smile. If you didn't tell me I wasn't eating beef, I probably wouldn't have noticed, the burger was hands-down the best I've tasted from a fast food joint. The fries were perfectly cooked and salted and they even use biodegradable straws that feel like plastic; no soggy, limp straw. The price was a bit above a regular fast food burger, but the quality and recipe were as well. I tried Burger King's Impossible burger years ago and it was terrible, Moonburger knows how to make them delicious. I can't wait until Moonburger opens a location...
Read moreI absolutely love Moonburgers, don't get me wrong, and was excited when one came to Poughkeepsie, as I have definitely made the trek to Kingston on multiple occasions because they're soooo worth the drive, but I have to say I've been disappointed every time I've been to Poughkeepsie. (4x since opening?) It always takes exceptionally long for the order to be made, which would be fine if they came out hot and fresh, but they don't. I'm not even sure if they use the same buns either - overall, I'd say they're mediocre at best - still better than any other fast food burgers by far, I'm sure, which I won't even eat, but sooo subpar compared to Kingston or New Paltz. A friend from Westchester who recently tried Kingston asked if we could go to the one in Poughkeepsie since he'll be visiting this week and I told him we shouldn't, as there was a good chance he'd be disappointed just like I always am. I wish there was better quality control and consistency throughout the branches, but sadly, Poughkeepsie just...
