Cancun's, is a popular but mediocre Mexican restaurant that seems to prioritize speedy service over the quality of food. With an overwhelmingly extensive menu and passable dishes, Cancun's stands out as a spot to drop by for a quick meal when you're craving Mexican food, but may not leave a lasting impression as a go-to location for authentic cuisine.
The menu at Cancun's Restaurant is notably massive, which raises concerns about the freshness and preparation of the dishes offered. With a seemingly endless list of options, it appears that most of the food might be prepared well in advance and reheated prior to serving. This undermines the quality and taste one would expect from a Mexican restaurant, as the depth of flavor is notably lacking.
Cancun's would greatly benefit from narrowing down its options and focusing on perfecting a few standout dishes. By concentrating on crafting authentic, high-quality dishes rather than catering to a wider palate with pre-prepared meals, Cancun's has an opportunity to improve their overall dining experience.
As a saving grace, the margaritas served at the restaurant qualify as an "Pretty good" beverage to accompany your meal. Though not outstanding, they are enjoyable enough to complement the eating experience. Meanwhile, the quick service provided by Cancun's staff can be seen as a positive, making this a suitable spot for time-sensitive diners.
Mexican cuisine has a rich cultural and historical tradition, with a plethora of diverse ingredients and cooking techniques. Unfortunately, Cancun's Restaurant doesn't seem to fully embrace these aspects in their culinary offerings. For an establishment to truly do justice to Mexican cuisine, it is essential to prioritize the quality and flavor of their dishes while remaining respectful of the tradition from which they originate.
If you find yourself in Red Hook, NY, with a sudden craving for Mexican food and limited time on your hands, Cancun's Restaurant might serve as a convenient stop. However, for those who truly appreciate and seek authentic Mexican cuisine, this establishment leaves much to be desired. As such, I would recommend exploring other options if you're in search of a memorable and delicious Mexican...
Read moreI've had the good fortune to have had a few meals here now. What a pleasant surprise to find such tasty Mexican food and delicious Margaritas in a picturesque small town in the Hudson Valley. I've had the good fortune of eating in a few different regions of Mexico .. and like other countries, there is a varied flavor palette throughout. Therefore I'm always pleased when a restaurant doesn't rely upon on the standard Mexican American fare of Tacos and Burritos or TexMex .. but also has excellent options that can tempt us to try different options. This is one of those places .. wonderfully kitchy in it's decor and food that would make their grandmothers proud. Don't get me wrong .. we've had their Burritos and enchiladas, etc, as well, but the shrimp and other seafood options have been cooked perfectly .. the different chicken and beef options, have all been full of flavor without tasting like they were all made with the same flavor packet .. and the sauces, have had complex flavor without just relying on hot spice. A few different restaurants have come and gone from this location over the years .. let's hope this one stays .. it's a definite keeper! P.S. I've been told that the guacamole was not so good the other night .. but I know that the flavor of guacamole can be subjective to everyone's particular taste and that sometimes it's the avocados that are not quite right .. as I don't like either, at anytime, I cannot personally...
Read moreThis astonishing place was not our desired destination but we decided to stop in for a drink while we were waiting around town and couldn't resist falling in love with every detail. From the staff to the food to the decor to the drinks, this may be our new favorite place. We have been really bummed but understanding about not being able to travel to Mexico this year and I am pretty sure we just stepped out of a local Mexican joint. They transformed us from a humid NY day to a refreshing bright vacation. You will not go wrong with anything you order! They have the best appetizer sampler I have ever had from anywhere and these are actually something from menus I tend to dislike. Our server was beyond friendly and love that everyone spoke Spanish with us so we could practice (husband being pretty fluent, me starting to learn). The tequila sunrise was the best drink I have had outside of a few drinks in Italy. I insist you stop by and at least have a margarita and bean dip!
Queso Fresco is a huge plus, I am pretty sure it is a gift from the...
