I loved the old world charm of this hidden gem. While traveling in Riverhead it is infrequent that I am not on a main road. I searched Restaurants in Riverhead was rewarded for my diligence. We shared an appetizer of the “Stuffies” which turned out to be the best baked clams I have had in years. My dinner meatloaf dinner ( true comfort bliss) came with soup of the day, a wonderful creme of tomato soup. This soup was so good it reminded me of the saucy taste of good baked ziti. I was going to order one of the specials which was sauerbraten. One of the last portions were served at the table next to us. (Next time) It looked great, as did all the plates passing by our table. Were perfectly nice to me and my wife, visitors from out of town hunting for a spot to throw a party later this year. But talked down to and borderline refused to serve two Latino gentlemen who came in for a beer. The bartender (50s, white dude) asked them why they were there at all and suggested they go to a nearby spot owned by people who looked like them.
Really sad to see places like this still exist, when every business owner and manager we talked to in Riverhead that day were so accommodating to anyone...
