Riverhead Free Library — Attraction in Town of Riverhead

I really tried to give Riverhead Public Library a fair chance, but it is consistently one of the worst libraries I’ve ever used. For starters, there are only two charging spots: one randomly placed on a wall, and the other next to a single table. To make matters worse, that one outlet by the table is always monopolized for hours by someone just sitting there charging their phone.

The bathroom situation is equally disappointing. More than once I couldn’t use the facilities at all because they were so poorly maintained. This is incredibly frustrating when you’re at the library for hours trying to get work done. On top of all that, some staff often are loud and inconsiderate of people studying or working nearby.

At the end of the day, almost every other library in Suffolk County puts this one to shame. Instead of being a reliable, welcoming place to study or work, Riverhead Public Library feels neglected and frustrating. I cannot recommend it to anyone serious about using the space for learning or...

Definitely appreciate the free notary and other services that all libraries offer but to promote people to use electric scooters but your not able to even charge up while you wait for these free services is insane. Like if you want some money towed the electric bill just say that but to not be sure about something and just to tell me no without even checking into it is just a bit rude to me personally. I wouldn’t wanna see someone stranded later in the day when they could’ve easily charged out of the way off to the side of a not so busy library. I guess I need to carry a generator around with me when I travel via scooter. Question though… what’s the difference if someone phone died and they asked to use the outlet to charge their phone so they can make it home? I LOVE THE R.F. Library!! I spent the afternoon there just yesterday 8/26/24! Such a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere with many friendly and helpful staff members! I was able to get an important official document notarized and they also faxed it for me too! I got my bills done without distractions and I found several CD's and a DVD for for a nominal price for a relative! This library has events, programs & services avail. for all ages and every background! I highly, highly recommend...
