Serving 15 people indoors in a post-COVID world is not easy, but The Birchwood get's it right! They provided hand sanitizer and temperature checks before bringing us into a portioned off area of the restaurant. The room was well-decorated, sunny and very clean. (We were actually thinking of how nice it would be to have a future event like a bridal shower there.) This occasion however was more somber-- we had just come from Calverton cemetery (12 minutes away) and wanted some classic Polish food in honor of our Bopshi. The food was amazing. We ordered 2 of the Pu-Pu Platter Appetizers--Chicken wings, spare ribs, potato pancakes, pierogi, onion rings, kielbasa & kraut. You might think it expensive, but when you see and taste the food you'll know you made the right choice. The french onion soup was the "best ever" for two of us, and the lightly fried pierogi's were made to perfection. My advice is to order the sweet potato fries as a side with whatever you get-- it comes with a great maple dipping sauce. The staff was wonderfully attentive without interrupting when we were having a family moment. All of our orders came out perfectly done and in front of the right person! The waitress was very professional and I'm sure she was smiling under her mask. If you are looking for a place to have a family dinner after visiting Calverton, or just a dinner with great food and service, The Birchwood is the place. A big thank you to the staff at Birchwood from the Tomcykoski family. ...

For anyone going for the 1st time, go hungry and leave yourself time on the way out to appreaciate the pieces of Long Island's history that fill the restaurant section of the establishment. We were seated in the beautiful catering hall, decorated with a vast array of food which was DELICIOUS! We were waited on byJoey, who was so polite and very attentive. Danielle (the owner), her mother and sister greet everyone with smiles and are so personable. They clearly put their heart & soul into their customers' satisfaction, going above & beyond to make their patrons comfortable. The coffee is amazing (very important :-) The food options were endless and well balanced, which is great if you're a diet conscious eater (like we are). There was something for everyone. The price was fantastic. We will definitely be back. I promise that I have no affiliation to the restaurant. It was simply a great afternoon with family. You will be...
Read moreWhat an awesome experience we had here at the Birchwood. From the service by Carissa, the delicious food by their chef and the amazing ambiance, we had such a great time.
Our food was so delicious. I ordered the French onion soup which had a nice layer of hot melted cheese on top….delicious! For dinner, I ordered the stuffed broil dish including stuffed shrimp which was so tasty, stuffed baked clams and stuffed flounder. The stuffing was amazing and the dinner, delicious. My friend had the beef short ribs which he enjoyed as well. The wives had the kielbasa which was huge and the chicken dish (I forgot really what she had) and they both enjoyed them completely!
What an amazing experience we had as you seem to step back in time inside their old tavern! The decorations...
