I had the pleasure of dining at Luso's for the first time, and I can confidently say that the experience exceeded all expectations. Upon calling to inquire about reservations, I was informed that a reservation was unnecessary due to the relaxed evening atmosphere. However, I quickly realized that the restaurant was busier than anticipated. Thankfully, my friend and I were promptly seated without any wait.
The ambiance at Luso's is inviting, enhanced by the friendly and attentive wait staff. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed, a sentiment that was consistent throughout our visit. Our waiter, Javier, was particularly outstanding, ensuring we had everything we needed while providing insightful recommendations.
We decided to indulge in the all-you-can-eat option and began our meal with the grilled shrimp in garlic sauce, which was simply delectable. While the menu primarily features wines and a selection of beers, I was pleasantly surprised to discover they have a full bar. I ordered an Amaretto Sour, which was expertly crafted and complemented our meal beautifully. My friend opted for the clams served in a fresh garlic sauce, and I can confidently say that everything we tasted was exceptionally fresh.
Although we experienced a brief wait for the various meats to arrive, it was undoubtedly well worth it. The grilled steak, pork, beef and the grlled chicken in which to my suprise was jerk flavored were all cooked to perfection. The sausage was particularly remarkable, melting in my mouth with each bite.
Accompanying the meat were crispy fresh potatoe fries, which, while delicious, posed a slight frustration for me; as someone who had ordered the all-you-can-eat steak, I would have loved the opportunity to take home the leftover fries. Alongside the fries, we enjoyed a delightful serving of white rice with vegetables, black beans, and a bowl of picante. To round out the meal, a fresh salad garnished with Italian dressing was presented on a tray.
In summary, my friend and I left Luso's with our spirits high and our appetites satisfied. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, paired with the exceptional service, made this an unforgettable dining experience. If I could give Luso's more than five stars, I would. The total bill came to approximately $200, and every penny was worth it. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to...
Read moreOur first time dining here and our first time trying rodizio. Very nice atmosphere. We were greeted promptly and shown to a table immediately. Everyone was friendly and accommodating to your needs and special requests. We had the all you can eat rodizio. Food was fantastic. They promptly bring your drinks and a basket of assorted breads with butter, a plate of delicious fresh cut french fries, a platter of seasoned rice with fried bananas that was simply prepared but just perfect (my husband does not like rice at all and he couldn't get enough of it). The fried bananas were crunchy on the outside and sweet on the inside, it was a unique and delicious flavor combination. We also got a platter of salad with lettuce tomatoes and onions, a small dish of assorted olives, pico de gallo, and a bottle of house made hot sauce that we really enjoyed. This was all delivered within 10 minutes of entering the restaurant. As were were testing the delightful assortment on our table, the real shining star of the meal began.... the meat. The friendly servers come to your table every five minutes or so with a new carnivorous delight. We had skirt steak seasoned to perfection and grilled on a real wood fire. There were flanken style ribs, chicken, turkey wrapped in the most delicious smoked bacon I'veever tasted, sausage, and steak, I think I've listed all the offerings but everything was grilled to perfection on a real wood fire. It was soooooo good! And they keep coming and giving you more until you can't possibly fit another morsel in your stomach and you tell them to stop. It was so delicious and worth the reasonable price of $43 per person for all the assortment of all you can eat meat. Some of the meat was a bit spicy for me and my son and they had no problem making some without the spice for us or cooking a rare pice a little more to our liking. Our drinks were kept filled the entire time (meat makes you so very thirsty.) We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the whole dining experience and we will definitely be back again and again. Wonderful family restaurant. Excellent service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. I highly...
Read moreSpoiler alert...this is absolutely a first class restaurant and my favorite on Long Island. It's a Portuguese churrasqueria where most foods served are grilled over a wood(?) fire. This technique intensifies flavors and makes my taste buds extremely happy... so happy that they dance for days after I've eaten there. They have an all you can eat meat option, called a Rodisio, which is absolutely delicious and includes not only steaks but chicken, turkey, and sometimes specialty meats. But the reason I go there often is twofold... the grilled octopus(polvo) and the grilled salted codfish(bacalau). These are grilled to perfection and served with a family style green salad, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, etc.(Come Hungry). Their roasted chicken is the most flavorful bird I've ever tasted... moist on the inside and nicely grilled on the outside. The bacalau is fresh...on the bone...moist... and perfectly charred on the outside, recreacreating flavors that are reminiscent of a childhood well-spent in Sicily where baccala' and octopus were often on the menu. Overall Luso's is a class act with so many dishes that you'll keep going back over and over to savor every single offering. The staff is outstanding catering to your every wish. Oh yes, desserts... they're awesome... did you expect anything different from this magnificent establishment? Try the triple whites... they're unique. And the prices are absolutely reasonable God all you get. I come here as often as I can just to refresh my soul. Luso's is 25 miles from my house and worth every single inch travelled to get there. In anticipation, my tastebuds begin to do their happy dance every time. My only wish is that they would open a restaurant on the south shore of Long Island near Patchogue, thereby removing another item from my culinary bucket list. I close by offering my Kudos to the chefs...Well Done. And as always... Be good to...
