Napper Tandy's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

When I first approached this bar, I was a bit lost. Unfamiliar place, 3000 miles away from home, and there seemed to be a private BBQ event at the front patio of the bar (which I would later find out was for-purchase and everyone welcome). Maybe that's what I get for wandering into a bar in unfamiliar territory, but it really shouldn't be this way, local's bar or not.

-=-Venue-=- In this part of Long Island, good old bar and grills are hard to come by which is what first attracted me here. I seated myself at one of the corners of the bar and found myself in some prime real estate since I was in the area closest to the patio. There was plenty of seating elsewhere, but the bar was the spot to be.

Service at the bar was a bit of a disappointment. I would not be noticed or acknowledged by the bartender for quite some time. The age group of this bar was mixed from older flojoes to young yuppies but being right in the middle of those groups ended up with myself not so popular with the waitstaff here.

When ordering my food, i would not even be sure if my order was heard since i would be ordering and the waitress would suddenly be walking away as i was talking. For the longest time, i wasn't sure if i would get my entire order. My fish and chips came out cold and par in quality, but the French onion soup was cheesy and made the experience a bit better. I would hear conversation of some of the bartenders working in areas where they were not supposed to. Customers being ignored as a result of this is unacceptable.

Went here with some friends for the CD release party they had. No one approached to ask if we wanted to order food, so we had to go up to the register to get anything. Then they approached us and we ordered some drinks, and they had a conflict between the register and the waiting staff because we ordered in two different places, once again since they didn't approach us for about 20 minutes. We waited for another 20 minutes for our orders, and the mussels were pretty good. But then we decided to order more food. Once again, we had to go up to the counter to order since no one bothered approaching us. We waited for 50 minutes before we got any kind of food, and instead of bringing us our food they gave us someone else's food. When they did decide to bring in our food, the meet in the burgers was raw, and everything but the mussels was pretty much completely tasteless. The burger looked fantastic, but taking a bit of it made you really question if you were actually eating anything because it was that bland. I would no recommend this place during large events, they were clearly understaffed and unprepared for an event that was clearly in the planning...
