I work nearby and decided to try this location on my break for the first time and unfortunately had a bad experience. Their was grinded up what looked like 'plastic strings' in my smoothie, i kept pulling them out of my mouth, about the size of hot glue gun strings is how i would describe it. when it first happened i didn't think anything of it and then i keep getting them in my mouth so i called the store to make them aware so it doesn't happen to someone else. i spoke with the shift lead cara who was very understanding about the situation, offered me free meal card and said i would be able to get a refund but she wasn't able to process it and that the manager would have to. The district manager Toddy was suppose to reach out. When i got home that day from work, i received another call from cara explaining how the district manager wanted pictures of the plastic strings which were in my smoothie. At this point i was at home and it had been hours since i had the smoothie at work so i didn't not have pictures of it. So i went back and forth with cara about it who was still very sweet and understanding and told me toddy would reach out. its now been a week and the district manager has not reached out. As someone who has worked in the restaurant atmosphere i find this extremely unprofessional that no one has reached out or gave me a refund. With a company that probably makes a lot of money, their giving me hard time about a 17 dollar meal. i am never one to complain about service, i usually just let things be but i had to come here and let you know. Hopefully tropical smoothie isn't still blending plastic into your smoothies. Shout out to cara the shift lead for being very respectful and doing the best she can to handle this situation. Being that it was a new store you would think everything would try to be run the right way . Wrong ! Blaring music that has curses ( can’t bring my young son here ) 2 employees , and the one who was making my daughters wrap ( I couldn’t eat here but she was excited too) was wiping his gloved hands on his pants , joking and making fun of everything . took nothing serious .
I swore I would never go back . But she wanted TS again and the Smithtown one was in the opposite direction. . I went there thinking if the sane employee was working I would just walk out . He wasnt there but two other employees that took nothing serious was . Spending more time with their friends that was visiting them than taking my order and making my order . I ordered a simple Turkey Bacon Ranch yesterday afternoon for lunch and didn't think I had to check my food for mold until I actually tried to eat it and tasted it. Then when I called right after and spoke to someone, they said a manager would reach out to me and they never did until TODAY, only after I had gone back into the store with the sandwich to physically show them last night when I got off work, a full 24 hours later! This is completely unacceptable, serving people food that has already begun to go bad. This is a new store and as someone who worked for and was a head shift leader for both the Port Jefferson location and the Smithtown location for 4 years previously, I'm really disgusted by this, not only by the molded food, but also the poor response time in actually making the phone call back to even attempt to rectify the situation.
