Are you in the mood for love? While in relationships, it takes two, here you can be on the receiving end and need to raise your fork and glass repeatedly to your watering mouth effortlessly. Sweetly located off Hill Street, just a bit west behind the Southampton Movie Theatre is the Plaza Cafe. Truly a gastronomic delight and visually appealing, definitely romantic. The staff is most welcoming and attentive. Our recent server, Maryelle, was attentive and professional. The chef here deserves five stars plus rating as each entree is presented with style and taste worthy of being in the running with the best. Our foursome was also enjoying the unique theatre combo, so we dined on a three-course selection and made the 7:00 pm play of Mama Mia at the Southampton Cultural Center, within walking distance. Among our first courses, we enjoyed an excellent fish soup in a spiced tomato based broth filled with fresh shrimp, clams, and calamari. The salad was crisp greens, walnuts, and goat cheese and presented well as quite a healthy choice. Our main courses included Pasta Bolognese, which was declared by two tasters as out of this world. The Pan Roasted Chicken was moist and flavorful and served with Mushroom Polenta and Sauteed Spinach. Truly a plentiful dish! The Cod entree was both delicious and a visual feast for the eyes. On another evening, I opted for the Lobster special. A two-pound lobster comes topped with Shrimp Tempura with aioli cream on a bed of Asian Slaw. While we left little room for dessert, one can't pass up Grandma's Chocolate Cake and Creme Anglaise. The chocolate icing tastes as rich as eating an entire frozen Dove Bar, and the cake is moist and creamy. So when in Southampton, do call ahead and make a reservation for Dinner or Brunch at the Plaza Cafe. Celebrate life and a meal as it was meant to be savored and enjoyed. Living and dining here is a beautiful thing!

The Plaza Café provided my family and I a most excellent experience when dining in the hamptons. The ambiance was very well thought out, considering the cozy and familial, yet sophisticated atmosphere. Accommodating us was the warm and considerate staff; who took the extra effort to provide us with friendly conversation and to fulfill our requests. The executive chef is evidently very hardworking, serving dishes like their Montauk Pearls on the Half Shells, Tuna and Crab Tian, Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi, and Plaza Café's Lobster and Shrimp 'Shepard's Pie.' Ultimately, my family am I found our trip to last about 2 hours and enjoying it the whole way through. Would definitely recommend to someone hoping to have a heartwarming evening.

What a memorable and incredible experience! I came here to enjoy a solo culinary expertise. I was greeted by the most welcoming staff and small team. I requested a mocktail that Oswaldo happily mixed up for me. I experienced a transformative meal. Not only was the meal incredible, but so was the late-night chat with Chef Douglas and his team. It was a quieter weekday night, and I felt as if I was a guest in their home. I will remember this evening fondly, indulging in delicious food, life experiences, travel experiences, and personal stories. Over the last 25 years, Chef Douglas and his team have taken pride in their art and provided the ultimate dining experience. I can't wait to return.

Fresh perfect seafood. Absolute find dining. Crisp elegant decor. Crisp elegant plating.

Simple & delicious menu. 5 fresh local catches perfectly prepared

5 tasty , well composed seafood apps

I tried them all. We were four, but I ordered five prix-fixe and tasted or ate all. I only eat once a day, so it's like a viking bar mitzvah.

Service was excellent We didn't have a reservation but the hostess was lovely , welcoming

The wait staff were superb. All showed extra effort, and even participated in my guest's silly tiktok (* We were the last out, so the place was empty by then lol)

The only thing that gives them a ninety nine, instead of a hundred points

On the entire menu, there's only one non seafood. Item, and that is rack of lamb, which they were out of even though it was only eight o'clock and not super crowded.

When you only have one thing for nonfish people, you can't run out of it.

Even if you did run out of it, i've been in the business you go out and buy a couple ribeye steaks wherever however

Fortunately our non-pesca is both Norwegian, and a bit of a drinker. After two well made cocktails she enjoyed the salmon* , albeit on childhood auto-pilot :)

*It's actually super great New Zealand Ora King salmon , the same cook for myself, and...

We came for dinner before a show that was a package deal so it was a prix fix menu so my wife ordered cocktails as well as our full meal - app, entree and dessert. I also mentioned to the waitress that I would want to order a glass of wine with my dinner.

Our app - soup - arrive before our cocktails. Then when our entree arrived there was no sign of our waitress to order a glass of wine. She showed up when we were more than half way through our meal so I ordered my wine then.

Finally, our dessert arrived and the waitress came by a few minutes later when my wife ordered an espresso. As with the last time we ate here the espresso came when dessert was finished.

Based on the fact that we've had two bad experiences as far as the service goes I've lowered my rate from 3 stars to 2. It's too bad this place can't hire quality staff since the food is...
