Our stay at Hotel Ze was a terrible experience. We checked in on a September thursday at 12:00 to find the hotel locked up with a handwritten note in the window telling us to call a number to contact an employee. The employee told us that someone would be right there to let us in. That took 10 minutes. ||We were welcomed into a small cluttered office with the hotel computer perched on top of the box which it had come in. There was a smell of chemical cleaner in the air. We were shown our room and taught how to use the locking device. That was the introduction.||The room was decent size but a strange long and narrow configuration which forced the designer to place the only sink across from the TV and outside of the bathroom. ||I'll say it again. The entire place smelled like cheap chemical cleaner.||We unpacked and left the room to explore the hotel grounds. It became apparent rather quickly that there were no other guests in the hotel, and no where else to explore. ||The hotel restaurant was closed and boarded up for the winter. The employee who had checked us in was nowhere to be found. We left to explore the Hamptons.||We returned later to find a still empty hotel. No employees, no other guests, just the chemical smell. I half expected to see Jack Nicholson standing in the hallway.||The next day we headed out early to escape the empty hotel. The complimentary breakfast as advertised on Hotels.com was nowhere to be found.||The second night we skipped and opted to stay at a wonderful hotel in East Hampton called the Maidstone.||The third night of our Hamptons stay we were forced to return to Hotel Ze as we weren't able to find an opening anywhere else. We had been charged $500 a night so we opted to tough it out rather than stay in our car.||Again a dead hotel but we were able to hear that there was another guest in the room directly above us. After a nice dinner in town we returned to the room to watch some TV, located by the sink, and get some sleep. ||At 3;30 in the morning I was awakened by the sound of high heels climbing the stairs, a knock at a door, and then the sound of heels in the room above us. There was some muffled conversation and I fell back asleep. At 5:30 I was again awakened by the high heels as they exited the room above and walked down the stairs.||A few hours later we woke, packed our bags, called the number for the office attendant to attain our bill, and left the property.||Without question, the strangest and most overpriced hotel experience in my life. My wife agrees.||And I thought you...
Read moreWorst experience of my life... First, I’ll say rooms are clean and well kept, and hotel is aesthetically pleasing and quaint. Excited we arrived with 4 people and upon check in they provided us with a single king bed room. We went back and requested a bigger room with double beds, or even some cots would do! We were told no rooms have double beds and frankly none extra were available anyway as they were “completely booked till Labor Day.” Fine. We decided we’ll make due for the night and utilize the floor lol. At reception there’s no individual to speak with but a beautiful hand writes sign that says text this number with all questions ... so yes... I personally texted someone’s iPhone and sent iMessages to ask for extra towels and blankets. At this post hours later someone responded saying rooms are only for 2 people and any additional persons would be a charge of $100 per person.... we argued back and forth for hours... they magically found a room for us but we had to pay CASH and only CASH for their “deal”... The staff here are very unpleasant and unprofessional. Upon arrival we let them know that there was a wine on their alcohol list that was not stocked in the refrigerator to ensure we were not charged for it, and they accused us of taking it stating they always check after all guest leave.... I did not pay $300 to text for help and be bribed and accused of...
Read moreReading the reviews we were quite uncertain to come here but figured we’d risk it and we are glad we did! Cute place with 9 individual suites across 3.5 floors. Comfy but very soft bed, Voss water in room, cute (step-up) bathroom and a clean room. Sofas and hammock outside a strange entryway but overall, felt safe (door codes to lock the rooms) and comfortable. Very reasonable prices. Walking distance to St. Ambroeus, Starbucks, CVS and more.
Downsides are the shower is really challenging to get the right temperature and takes about 3-10 minutes to navigate perfectly so allot extra time.
There isn’t really a reception area/ housekeeping staff but the front desk lady Mia was very hospitable.
It wasn’t an issue but you can hear people coming in and out of their rooms pretty easily. If you have noisy neighbors it could be challenging.
Will return next time we’re in town if it remains quite an affordable catch and if we can get a king...
