290 Slide, Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Tonawanda

We went to this bar to watch the Bills game yesterday and I will say that I will NOT recommend this bar to anyone who is black or a person of color. First of all when we (me and boyfriend) had arrived were already getting a lot of stares and the issues began there, there was more than 5 servers but we didn’t get someone to come serve us for 20 minutes. Second of all the server was very demeaning and she was talking to us as if we were children, she wasn’t that busy but still took a long time to give a simple service. This server was blonde but also had some black hair and was on the older side. Thirdly on the food, i thought bar food was supposed to be good but no the Cajun wings were a 2/10 with there being no seasonings at all the Cajun tasted like nothing (maybe it was the non salted ones??) the wing barely had any flavor, their blue cheese isn’t good and the ranch was really weak. My last point was that the server checked on us once the whole time right after we got our food and we were ready to leave for a long time and I even asked another young server (black hair) if we could pay and she said we could only pay with our server and the fact that she didn’t try to help or call her over showed how much they care for their "customers" and then after our server came she asked if we were ready to pay which we said yes to and she printed the receipt and once again dismissed us to go take care of another table and made it so we had to wait even further. This place was not welcoming at all and if this review is deleted I will make another one. It’s just crazy that there’s still so much discrimination, prejudice at an establishment… have you never seen black people come to Tonawanda? This is my true experience at this...

First time stopping by. It’s close to our home so figured why not. 5 o clock on a sunday and it was dead. Should have been the first giveaway to how terrible this place was going to be. I ordered the crab cakes since they have summer menu all decorated. I figured- must be good with all the clams and things on special. OH MY GOD. Nastiest thing i’ve ever tasted. I don’t know if they took crab from a can of dog food but the smell was nauseating when you cut into it. There was no seasoning what so ever. Honestly looked like a desert with powdered sugar on the outside. I don’t know what’s going on here. The waitress definitely didn’t want to be there or maybe she just didn’t like two women who are clearly together to be at her table. She definitely liked sitting at the bar and chatting with the young, probably underaged boys though. Only time she smiled is when she got her tip. Also- THEY DONT GIVE YOU A CHECK! They come over with some machine, tell you the price, and ask for your card. So who knows if you are even charged correctly. We will never return and never recommend this...

290 Slide Sports Bar opened in Sept 2023, but we just noticed this today, so we slammed on the brakes stopped in for lunch. There are plans to add a sign up front so people know they are open for lunch. It was not very busy on our trip. We we arrived, we were told to grab whatever seats we wanted (high and lowtop options).

Our server (also the bartender) was friendly and offered some suggestions upon request. The angus burger was the choice for me. Cooked to perfection. It was delicious. Served on a quality roll. Fries were at an added cost (typical for many places now), but tasty too. The chicken cutlets looked great as well.

Pricing was on the mid to high side for a lunch, but the quality was well above average, which for many may justify the modest premium.

The location was clean and sports themed. Certainly a location worth checking out. We left with our bellies full...
