I know they say people only take the time to leave negative comments, but Amiel’s did have a few good food items too. My husband and I were on a road trip and stopped June 22, 2024. Knowing this restaurant has been in this area for a long time, we wanted to try it. We waited in line behind another couple, until they were helped by a gentleman making their subs. A woman then yelled, ‘Next!’ So we walked over to het spot. She couldn’t have been more unfriendly. I mean, I understand you just want to make the subs and move on, but she seemed purposely unfriendly! She barely grunted when we asked any questions about our subs. (and we only ordered two basic subs.) We didn’t have any odd requests, we tried being friendly regardless, thinking maybe her day has been long. We felt terrible for ordering! It was like we were bothering her. Besides the couple ahead of us and a few people at tables, it didn’t seem busy. We didn’t complain though, because it could have been swamped prior to us being there. Who knows. We also bought soup, potato salads, drinks and cookies. We were happy to try it all. And the young girl who cashed us out was friendly and pleasant. Well, the soup (lobster bisque) was an A+, So good!! The potato salad and cookies were also awesome! *Cookies 10 out of 10!!! I’d go again, just to buy those! Really good! But, the subs, ugh! Honestly, the worst subs we have ever had! Again, they were basic.. Ham/turkey with lettuce, mayo, light onion and swiss cheese. Roast beef with lettuce, mayo and provolone cheese. Both subs were so sparse of meat, when you’d take a bite, you could barely see any! My husband can’t have onions, yet she put onions on both. They were piled on so heavy, it was like eating an onion sub! And the one that was supposed to have onion, it was supposed to be light. Both had white American cheese (even though she asked us what kind of cheese we wanted) and hardly a swipe of mayo. It feels as if she made them wrong on purpose?? It was as if she didn’t care, on purpose. Also, a dumb extra, but they weren’t cut through all the way either, so we had to pull them apart, onion fell out into the car, so all we could smell was onion all day! Again, dumb extra, but still annoying! I think that and having to pick off all the rest of the onions were the most annoying. Oh and being just too dry and tasteless to eat. I am sorry to leave the negatives as to our experience, we really wanted to like them, but I just can’t say enough of how disappointed we were with the service and these subs. (however, the sub bread was good) And we bought the jumbos to have for leftovers. We ended up throwing them away. Again, I know people tend to leave negative comments but it wasn't all bad. If we were to go again and the same person was to make our subs, we’d just leave. I appreciate being able to leave...
Read moreWe came for lunch , it wasn't busy in the least . There were 3 people on the line and except for one it was as if they were all working under water. One boy in particular by the name of Nick was nothing short of a sloth. He didn't acknowledge people , look up at them and you could actually hear his feet dragging on the floor as if he were wearing slippers .He was wearing his pants where they were practically falling down and his eye rolling was beyond rude . There are too many people out of work that would love to take his worthlessness's place . The woman next to him with a crew cut was second in the sloth race ,but she did look as if she might have been trying . The 3rd person , an African American young man was triple the speed , making 4-5 sandwiches to their 1 , he was friendly and smiled . We watched all three work before we knew we would let others that were forming behind us go ahead until the personable young man was a available. When walking to the cashier , a middle aged woman I was surprised that she was very short with us as if we were a bother . There was no hello or good afternoon, and no goodbye or Happy Holiday days when our change was placed on the counter and not in my hand .After we ate and were headed to the garbage it was overflowing onto the floor , while the top of the garbage was toppled with unemptied trays as there was no where to put the garbage. I wasn't aware we were eating in the alley......., We won't be returning to bother this establishment or their workers , except for the young hard worker man I mentioned . If the woman who was the cashier was also the manager , I seriously would ask the owner to clean house and maybe it would actually be busier during lunch time . The only reason I gave it a 2 star is due to the sandwich was subpar and kudos to the young man , or I'm sure my wife would have had a lot to say to whom ever was in charge but knew it would fall...
Read moreThe chicken parm sandwich made my mother cry.
Although the real joy was the girl with pink hair making our sandwich. Rude, snappy, with the disposition of a Mack truck.
Anyways, here’s a recipe for a chicken parm sandwich that isn’t garbage.
Ingredients: 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1 cup marinara sauce 4 slices of mozzarella cheese 4 sandwich rolls Salt and pepper to taste Olive oil for frying
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness using a meat mallet. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes - one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan. Fry the breaded chicken breasts for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Place the chicken breasts on a baking sheet and top each with a spoonful of marinara sauce and a slice of mozzarella cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. While the chicken is baking, toast the sandwich rolls in the oven for a few minutes. Assemble the sandwiches by placing a chicken breast on each toasted roll and topping with more marinara sauce if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious chicken...
