Bjs Wappingers Falls is a horribly run store from top to bottom and hereās why.
Day 1: I purchased 4 new tires, not a cheap investment as we all know, and had them installed on a Sunday. As I drive to work Monday morning I get massive shaking in the steering wheel. Like driving a jackhammer. The balance isnāt quite right obviously. Thatās not the big issue, as these things happen. Hereās where the problem starts...
Day 2: I return to BJs Monday at 6PM to have the tires re-balanced. No one is there, tire department is closed even though they are supposed to be open until 8PM. I check with customer service and the person called out sick. Wait, they only have one person working in the tire dept at a time? Apparently yes. As I speak to customer service I learn they only have three people employed to do tires. Three people to run a department where people can easily spend upwards of $800 on a set of four tires. A big investment for most. I leave with the intention of returning another evening.
Day 3: I call on Wednesday to ensure someone will be there to re-balance my tires. No answer. For 30 minutes no answer. Just the eternal ringing and ringing. I decide to try my luck and show up at 6PM again. Low and behold they are closed again. Another call out they claim. At this point the manager at the front desk is just a sounding board for my tirade, a calm and collected tirade, but a tirade none the less. She assures me that if I come in at 9AM the next morning all will be well, my tires will be rebalanced and I will be on my way. She even texts the tire supervisor and assures me heās on board.
Day 4: 9AM. No one is in the tire department. There are 3 other customers waiting outside. One leaves as myself and the other customer discuss our issues with BJs. 9:15AM associate shows up, says he has to take in the other person first as she had an appointment. False promises from Arianna the manager last night as I read the text and he stated he already had a 9AM appointment. She never relayed that to me. She said Iād be first. Wouldnāt be an issue if they had more than one employee working the tire dept.
At this point I had also spoken to Ryan the store manager. But there is nothing I can do but complain and wait.
10:45AM I finally leave BJs with ābalancedā tires. But low and behold my tires are still not properly balanced. Theyāre better, not like driving a jackhammer, but still have shaking in the steering wheel. The tire supervisor did tell me he thinks the machines are a little off and they should get them recalibrated.
So not only is BJs poorly managed, understaffed, undertrained and knowingly make promises to customers they canāt keep, they also have faulty equipment.
Issues like this come from the top down. Understaffing is a result of poor communication between the GM, regional GM and the BJs cooperation. In fact every employee I talked to complained to me, the upset customer, about how understaffing is creating compounded issues at checkout and throughout departments. Cooperate owners lining their pockets while common employees suffer through complaint after complaint that could easily be solved with staffing.
I can purchase tires anywhere. I can purchase any other product you sell anywhere either online or other brick and mortar stores. The only thing that separates your store is customer service and saving customers time. Both of which have failed miserably.
Itās shameful and inexcusable. Ryan, your picture is on the poster that lazily leans against the wall behind your customer service desk half covered in jackets. This poster says āYour here to exceed expectations.ā Sir, you havenāt even began to meet my expectations.
Day 5: Made an appointment with BJs in Monroe to get my tires correctly balanced. Again, only one young man on duty, answering phones, working with costumers and changing tires. He did his job and my tires are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat I love about BJ's ends up outweighing the few nitpicks I have. I love they try to make their store as much a regular grocery as a warehouse store. I can almost do all my shopping here. They offer store coupons. Which warehouse store does that? They try to carry all the healthy organic stuff without the high-fructose corn syrup. Their prices without coupons on a lot of stuff is so far below the "warehouse" items in others grocery stores that I don't bother to price compare much anymore. Only their fruits and veggies can be a bit off price when in season. I like the digital app, as it makes redeeming coupons as easy as adding them to your account. The only things I dislike are the register lines. It's time they do what Sam's Club does and allow you to pay from your phone. They will also stop carrying a specific item without notice. This used to be a bigger problem when I only went to BJs for 2-3 items specifically. The deli meat prices are really difficult to match in this area. The roast beef is double the price per pound everywhere else. I am not a huge believer you can taste a difference in brands, and I grew up eating way worse tasting deli meat. This is one reason the deli lines are double every other store's deli lines. Overall... 5-star for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI give this BJās a zero if I could. I went there as a new member to sign up and while I was at the customer service desk the employee that is supposed to to be helping me asks if I mind if she helps others! I told her yes I do mind because you are supposed to to be helping me! Service like this always question me of why am I a Veteran again because the scripted : Thanks for your services is just that! She was rude and not professional at all! People need to stop treating people as people and treat them like humans with some got damn respect for just being a human! She had a sweat shirt on not looking professional at all and was at customer service ! She needs to be re evaluated because customer service like that is not a Asset itās Lazy, Incompetent and Rude on 10/04/2025 I was in this store she acted as if it was beneath her to explain anything dealing with the membership I start to feel like was it because I was Black or because I look young for my age but Rude is rude I started to write a complaint to the BBB but I could not find her name...
