You know a restaurant is good when every bite sends you back to a specific memory that you lived in that country. Our meal at the Dosa Grill had us effortlessly recalling travels for more than 10 years ago with every sip and bite. The service was kind and attentive, from asking us if we wanted our chapatis soft or crispy to checking if we wanted ice in our water. The fish tikka masala was perfectly balanced with the most tender fish, capturing all of the spices of the sauce whose savory notes were punctuated by the sweetness of the onion. The dosa, for which we got an appetizer size, was the largest one that I’ve ever seen, and came with amazing accompanying coconut and tomato dipping sauces and a fantastic onion lentil soup. In addition to many classic dishes that you see most Indian restaurants, we loved how we could get delicious street food like pani puri, where we poured tangy spiced water into puffed shells, already filled with chutney and chickpeas. The “non-Indian” regular spice level held us in its spiciness, allowing us to savor every bite without any need for Kleenex to wipe runny eyes or noses. It left a pleasant hum in our mouths to remind us of what we’d eaten. The tomato soup had deep rich tomato notes, and the chai tea was a spot of comfort. Lastly, the gulab jamun and jalebi, made from fermented flour and yogurt, were wonderful sweet notes to end the meal. We feel so lucky have such a delicious, fairly priced place open up in the...
Read moreAfter a chilly 45-minute snow-shoveling session on Sunday, my wife and I were in dire need of a warm and satisfying lunch. We decided to give this Dosa Grill's lunch buffet a try. To our delight, they had a mouth-watering chicken biriyani on the menu!
The chef, Michael, stopped by our table to gather feedback and was warm, friendly, and more than happy to answer our questions about the new restaurant. The staff was equally welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home.
The food was a highlight, with a diverse spread of options that catered to our taste buds. The price was a pleasant surprise, being significantly cheaper than other restaurants in the area like Tanjore and Gymkana in Fishkill.
We left feeling full and content, with a strong desire to return for dinner and try out some of the chef's recommended South Indian dishes. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend giving this...
Read moreBuffet should be the best place to show case your best dishes in order to have the customer come back to try dishes on the menu. How can they serve 4-5 kinds of chicken dishes on the buffet counter? (See photos) What’s the logic behind this menu planning??? Other than chicken is cheap? Besides the rest of the vegetarian dishes were so old and dry out including rice and naan (maybe there should be lids) and others over cooked on the buffet heater/warmer. we did come in like 1:30pm or so it has passed the lunch hour when the food was first freshly made. However their buffet hour goes till like 3pm, they should be able to maintain similar quality of the food they serve. It is just shocking to us and can’t help it to wonder if this restaurant has any standards for their food at all - if they are fine with serving food this bad. Besides buffet price is no where to be found on the menu or website. Feels...
