On 04 DEC 2020, my wife took me to the Longhorn in Watertown, NY to celebrate my birthday (our annual birthday tradition for the last 14 years because I always love the food and environment). Unfortunately, we got caught up at the office and had to make it a later birthday dinner than originally planned. Both of us have previously served in the restaurant industry, so we checked the business hours to ensure that we wouldn’t be “those customers” that showed up 20-30 minutes before closing. We saw that the restaurant closed at 10pm, which would give us about an hour to eat, so we decided that we would go ahead with my birthday dinner and just hustle a little more than we usually do through our meals. We walked in the door at 8:59pm and were immediately greeted by a hostess who gave us an extremely dirty look. Without saying a word to us, she turned to the waitress behind her, looked at her watch and said (loud enough to make sure that we could hear her), “Are we seriously going to let this happen?!?” The waitress looked at her watch, sighed loudly enough to let us know how annoyed she was and made a show of rolling her eyes in our direction before loudly replying, “It’s 8:59, so I guess we HAVE to.” The hostess then replied, “I can’t believe we’re doing this!”, angrily grabbed two menus, looked at us (still without saying a word) and stormed to our table. Immediately upon arriving at the table (not having sat down yet), the woman who would end up being our waitress looked at us, then at the hostess and loudly exclaimed, “What? SERIOUSLY?!” To which the hostess replied loudly and sarcastically (in front of 3 tables filled with customers and us), “Oh yeah, it’s EIGHT FIFTY NINE!”, threw our menus onto the table and stormed away. Our waitress was visibly annoyed when she took our drink orders and stormed off to send them to the bar. After this, the service and food were good and we tipped our waitress 20%, but this was by far the worst I’ve ever been...
Read moreNew in watertown and adds variety to the other local franchise restaurants. I will say this, I was not impressed with the quality of food or service both times I've eaten at the Watertown Longhorn Steakhouse. This restaurant is new in town and has been absolutely crowded both times I ate there. So I give the benefit of the doubt in that new employees and chefs are working with a large influx of customers. Now, my experience was that my order was not made in a timely manner, waitress was slow to serve and my steak was undercooked to specification and lacked the additions to my order (parmesean crusted topping, baked potato). For those reasons I would give this restaurant a 2 star but, I have been to Longhorn Steakhouses elsewhere in other states and have had absolutely fantastic experiences at them. Steaks were cooked exactly how I asked them and they were delicious. I even once had a chef come up to me after my dinner to ask about his performance on the steak. I enjoyed the fact that such a business could show their care for customer satisfaction (coming directly from the chef him/herself). Constantly interrupting my meal, on the other hand, would not be pleasant but this chef had shown good judgment and taste when asking me for my thoughts on his cooking after I had had my meal. Such examples from a manager would not be the same to me, in fact I quite dislike managers or shift leaders who are constantly swinging by to ask how my meal was. Once is enough and no one really looks at a manager and thinks he/she is in the direct line of service between your order, the cooking and the delivery of meal. I normally would say it's direct from server to chef to server to customer. If your not in that direct line of service then I don't care to give you my opinions. Just my thoughts and I do hope Longhorn Steakhouse in Watertown improves on...
Read moreTerrible service, pull up to curbside for my pickup order. Waited for about 5-10 min after checking in for the pick up to call inside the restaurant to see what the wait was for. Only to find out the "manager wants me to come in and get it" unsure why I had to call them to find that out, why wouldn't they call me, especially after I checked in. After arriving inside the store I waited for someone to grab my food for me. After a waitress walked out from the back I was blatantly ignored. I waited 2 minutes, then approached and asked if she could grab my food for me. She said "after I'm done doing this" she was literally counting her tip money with another worker instead of coming to give us service, asked for the manager who didn't manage the situation well at all. The server who caused all these issues was very happy with her self after making me very displeased. She was smiling and just about laughing when she came out (while the manager was processing my refund) just to say "we don't even have soup right now" she was fighting back laughter at that point. The manager on duty didn't feel it was necessary to tell her to stay in the back until I was gone. Instead let her further antagonize me after not serving me and doing her job. The last thing this server said to me was "I know exactly who you are" which tells me exactly why this happened to me. Terrible experience all around. After dining here once or twice a week for a long time now, I will never be back after this. Oh and there was a note on the order to call if there was an issue with the soup tonight, they never called about that soup...
