The food at this place was pretty decent, but not worth the diet racism that we endured when we ate here.
When we arrived, we were seated immediately and a waitress came over and said hello and asked what we wanted to drink and if we were ready to order. We thought nothing of it, until we heard her and several waitresses at the other tables saying "Hi, my name is _ Ill be your server for today. Is this your first time here with us?". We thought it was odd that she just assumed we knew how this kind of restaurant works as far as ordering. But didn't think much of it until we started to notice the difference in service we were receiving. We made the unfortunate connection that most of the tables around us were non black people.
The waitress wasn't rude or mean, but she and a lot of her coworkers would stare at our table when they walked by...Almost like they were waiting for us to do something. It was weird. I hadn't seen my friend in a while so we took our time eating and catching up, and we kept being asked if we had finished. Keep in mind that the restaurant is not busy and we had not been there that long, especially considering we were at a buffet style eatery. Before we even got to finish, the waitress bought the check to the table unprovoked, didnt say a word, just dropped the check and kept moving towards the kitchen. There were other people who had been there just about as long as us...but again, the same connections were made. But before the waitress had even brought us the check, we overheard another customer at the table behind us ask "How do I pay?" and the woman directed her to the front counter where we had first walked in. We watched that customer walk to the front of the restaurant and pay. So I asked the waitress, "Don't i pay at the front??" and she says oh don't worry I'll take it for you. It was very sketchy.
Even after we had paid for our food, the restaurant had ice cream, so we decided to wait about 5 minutes after our food had settled and grabbed these small cups of ice cream. As we're eating, the waiters and waitresses are still staring every time they walk by. I purposely displayed the receipt on the table because at that point we knew we were being watched. Even with the receipt on the table, another waitress (Who had not even been serving on our side) randomly comes over and asks if she can bring us the check SMH. Obviously I pointed to the check that was clearly on the table, but after that, we decided it was time to go and didnt even finish the ice cream.
In addition to the slew of microagressions, the soup base was OK the first time around but all of the refills after were very watery. The dumpling tasted off like it was expired or close to expiration. The ramen and most of the meats were tasty and the condiment/dessert/fruit bar was well stocked.
I'm usually not this critical of places, especially when I've only been there once. But I've never felt more unwanted at a restaurant. Me and my best friend went to college in that area and we know it can have its sprinkles of racism. But damn, we just wanted to eat and got so much unnecessary shade. I hope they can get...

Clean, food quality was good, poor service, small portions, high price.
Although this restaurants is all you can eat, if you order any seafood, the portions are abysmally tiny. Yes, you can order more portions but the waiter doesn’t come around that frequently to take your order. For example, when I ordered shrimp, scallops, salmon, As well as bok choy, a choy , cabbage. A plate was brought out with heaping amounts of cabbage and bok choy but an equal size plate was brought out with exactly 3 shrimp. Nine extremely teeny tiny scallops, and approximately one to two thin slices of salmon cut up into many teeny tiny square pieces and all were spread out to “fill “the plate. I did not feel that the size of seafood given to me was even big enough to qualify a snack and I am a small, thin person. But if I’m going to pay $30 a person with a required 18% gratuity on top of that for poor service you should be giving me more than a toddler amount of seafood. They have a conveyor belt, which is pretty cool and has potential, but it’s mostly filled with dry noodles and fish balls. No seafood or meat coming down. Not many vegetables either. The server also let the plates we ordered pile up all over our table so that we barely had any room. This made our dining experience extremely uncomfortable. We also ordered tea and the size of the cups was extremely small and we had to flag down the waiter to even get a second cup leaving us very thirsty. The table is made for four people and with only two people there was barely enough room to cook our food and eat it since no one was clearing our plates. This made for a very uncomfortable experience and I could not imagine not feeling even more frustrated if we had the full four people that the table is supposed to accommodate.
The desserts are delicious and you can get as many of them as you want. I found myself eating more desserts and the noodles that came down the conveyor belt because I was very hungry and unable to get more of the meat and seafood due to poor service.
The sauces are not very good or wide in selection. The oyster sauce tasted like salt. They had an almond sauce and a peanut sauce that literally both tasted like oily/ watered down nut butter- Not exactly what I look forward to dipping my meat, seafood, or vegetables in. The scallions and chopped up peanuts were a nice touch. Overall, I probably would not come back here because of prices that do not match the value in...
Read moreTwo stars for fresh food, good waiters, but really bad manager/owner.
I went here a couple times, I even recommended many friends to come here. Unfortunately, today when I brought my new friend here, something changed my mind, and I don't think I will come back anymore.
We went in at 6:15 pm, we got our table quickly. My friend and I just enjoyed our meals as other normal customers. However, their manager or store owner automatically sent us our check around 7:25 pm, and started to signaled us to leave.... Around 7:30 pm... She came to our desk and told us...it's about time to stop eating...because there are plenty of customers still waiting for tables due to weekend, when we were still eating and enjoying our food. She asked us to finish our food ASAP...... The rule is 2 hour-limited all-you-can-eat, but we got this rude notification right after 75 minutes..... and when I politely reminded her that we got in at 6:20 pm and it's not even 80 minutes yet....She just kept saying in a rude and load tone.....Enough! Enough!......IT IS ENOUGH already......Then.....she left....Right after then....She gave us a lot of unhappy looks like we should've left sooner so she could take more customers waiting at the door....
Yup my friend and I tried to finish our food as quick as possible, and our dinner time was completely ruined ..... I felt embarrassed to recommend my friend this place for dinner during the whole dinner......
When....we signed and tipped the check, their waiters even came to ask us anything wrong, when my friend said he was not happy to give more than 10% tips.....I told the waiter....I liked the waiter's service, but the rude notification was ruining our dinner already.....Eventually, I tipped 18% trying to convince my friend..it's not waiter's fault.....LOL
If the manager/store owner is reading this comment, I would like to say...you might earn more money from customers that night....but you could lose even more customers in the future......Think...
