Gohan A.Y.C.E Buffet — Restaurant in Tracy

I gave them 1 star because I couldn’t give them 0 stars. I went to try this place with my husband and son. When I walked in I paid at the register for 3 adults. They gave me a receipt and asked me to guve it to the area to be seated. The girl infront told me they would call out the number on the receipt when a table was available. I didn’t have to wait too long, it was about 5 minute wait time to be seated. The waitress took our receipt and placed it on a designated place they have on the table and she told us to take it down after we were done eating. We served our first plate of food and then went back to get seconds. When we came back they had taken all the dirty plates, soda cups, and receipt and had cleaned the table. One of the employees came to the table and asked to see the reciept. I told her we went to get food and they had cleaned the table and thw receipt was gone. She then asked the guy that cleaned the table and he said there was no receipt when he cleaned. She told me she needed to see a receipt for us to keep eating. She said that if I had paid with my card she would be able to find it that way in the register. I told her the last 4 numbers of the credit card and she came back with a receipt that had only one paid adult. At that point I was pissed. I told her to go look at the waiting list to be seated and shw would find my name there with the receipt number. She went back and told me she didn’t find it. I told her I wanted to see the camaras to see who had cleaned my table. She went back to the register and I followed her. The manager had a reciept on her hand and asked me if that was my receipt. Sure enough that was my receipt. That woman and the manager ruined our dinner by keep bother us for the stupidity of the guy whi had cleaned the table and took our receipt. Lastly I had served myself a plate with 3 pieces of melon and the guy took my plate even though my son had told him not to take it because I was going to eat it. I was just so frustrated after all the incompetent employees including the manager that I argued with the manager. All she said was “sorry” and that she would give me a free meal for next time. NEXT TIME???? Hell no, Im nevee going back to your restaurant after all the stupid things you guys did and try to say I didn’t pay for 3 adults. I can see my statement online and I will be able to see that transaction on Monday also now I have a copy of my receipt. My son heard them say it was the fault of a new hired guy. Update Saturday, July 6, 2024 PM Not a good experience tonight. I felt like I was going to get sick since most of the food was not hot. Some of it was not even warm! Seems like each time we come here the quality drops. They made a good effort and put out good food when they first opened but sadly, quality has gone down. I’m sorry if the food sits there nobody is eating it because you’re not busy… But you need to throw it out. That’s just one of the hazards of the business. They brought out some really good looking crab legs. I was so excited! I took four or five hoping for the best. I ate one and sadly threw the rest away. They must’ve been soaked in water for a week. You could not crack the shells because they were like rubber. You had to tear them open with your fork. And then when you get the meat out, which looked very good, it was like rubber and stringy and inedible! Why serve that? Just so you can say you have crab?? Update: Sunday, May 5, 2024 p.m. Very good tonight! Everything that I tried was tasty, hot and fresh! As soon as the dinner plate was empty, it was taken off the table by the server. Very happy with our meal! Thank you ——————— Wow! I’m trying to think of an area where I can deduct a star or two but I can’t. So…this is a five star buffet experience. I think it’s pretty close to a brand new store. We drove from Stockton to Tracy to try it and we were not disappointed. Great selection of food. Some of it is typical buffet food but they have a lot of specialty items that you don’t find on a normal buffet. And they have a couple of sushi chefs putting out fresh sushi. They also have a Mongolian barbecue type set up. I saw crab legs and salt and pepper crab although I didn’t try either of those. I really enjoyed the stuffed shrimp! And the bussers are right on top of their job picking up the used plates. They have a cute little robot wandering around the dining area carrying fortune cookies, silverware and straws. The kids really get a kick out of him or her! I posted lots of videos of all of the food. Take a look and see what looks good. We went on opening day. The orange chicken was to wet and mushy, the lo mien was flavor less, the bbq chicken tasted to wet and lacked flavor, the sushi wasn't to bad but the ones with cream cheese fillings did not taste good if they have been out for to long. The chicken nuggets were dry, the french fries were bland, not crispy, needed a bit more salt for flavor. The hibatchi was probably the better portion of the buffet as you know it was as fresh as it can get, the meat is a tougher cut of meat but it still was not as chewy and eatable. We did not trust the salmon there, the crab legs had small amounts of meat so you have to toothpick them out. The scallops were chewy and rubber texture.

The staff is good since it's mostly all self serviced so they don't really bother you as much. The bathroom was closed down for cleaning as one of the staff us told to go all the way in the mall to use the bathroom, so that kinda hindered our experience since I had to hope my daughter made it to the bathroom in time.

We did not try much of the deserts since we were already dissatisfied with the food for its price.

Overall, we probably would give it a chance again the the future only during lunch time for the cheaper price point. Glad to have another buffet in tracy, but we'd rather travel the 20-30mins for...
