I came here on a Friday after work with a group of friends. We've been all over Tracy and had not been here yet, so we'd thought we would give it a try. The space and the atmosphere are really nice. Spacing between tables is good, the decor is attractive, and the noise level never got too loud to interfere with any conversation.
Their beer selection had some choices I haven't seen elsewhere in Tracy, so that was another point in their favor. Their menu is a bit limited, though, and compared to other comparable establishments in the area they're a bit expensive. I decided to go with their 1/2 pound Angus burger, medium rare. The burger I got was medium well. I could understand completely, however, since there was no way it was a 1/2 pound burger. It was too small, and it was most certainly too thin to be cooked as I ordered it. The fries I was served were also mediocre at best. Limp and tasteless, and the little cup of ketchup included on my plate was more a garnish than a condiment.
Our service was as good as you might expect from a place like this; I was happy enough with it. When two of us (we were a group of 8) asked for our checks, however, our waitress was surprised we wanted separate checks and said we should have asked from the start. We have never been to a bar or restaurant in this area that has not either given us separate checks without us asking or has asked us from the very start. It makes me wonder just how well the management has trained their staff.
What surprised us the most, however, was the tip that was added. I can completely understand an automatic gratuity for a group that large, but 27%? They added a 27% tip to our bills. That's outrageous. That's ridiculous. That's insulting. That's arrogant.
And given the mediocre quality of the food, that's the last time we'll be visiting.
I imagine if you come to Juniors' with your family or just a friend or two, you'll probably be fine. Maybe you'll have a better experience with your meal. But if you're part of a large group, coming here to unwind at the end of the...
Read moreI recently discovered this restaurant in Tracy and I’m so glad I did. Always great to have new places in town. This was my second time dining in 2 days. Thursday I went with my father and they were out of the halibut, but I got the salmon & it was terrific and perfectly cooked to my liking. The risotto was excellent & broccolini is always a plus for me (hope this pairing doesn’t change). So Friday (tonight) I had to take the rest of my family, wife, kids, mom & dad. They had the halibut this time, my dad enjoyed it. I had fish & chips and it was delicious & the portions quite generous. But what truly sparked this review was the service we received. 1st day was good and the second day did not disappoint. I made a reservation for 6:30 but then we needed to dine earlier so we arrived around 5:30 just to see if we could get a table ahead of time. It was busy but we were able to be seated and the hostess was just as nice as the day before and the additional young lady super pleasant too. Our waitress was so attentive and prompt, but not overbearing, refilled my kids drinks when low without having to ask. We just had a very nice local meal, with excellent service, good food & not a single unpleasantry. I couldn’t be happier to have found this place, would like to thank the entire staff & management team and implore them to keep up...
Read moreWe are relatively new to living in Tracy. Junior's was one of the first places we were recommended by a local.
No one is perfect. No restaurant is perfect. Trying to be is a waste. Expecting it is a crime.
Junior's does for us better than trying to be perfect. They do their best.
We have eaten there many times in the last year. Trying a variety of dishes. We have brought friends, young and old, from many walks of life.
We have never left disappointed. The staff have been engaging and helpful. The food is top-notch. From salads and starters to burgers and main dishes. Some of the recommendations we have received and dinner specials have been absolutely outstanding.
But more importantly, when something was off. About our expectations, or their delivery. Which has been the absolute exception, not the rule. Junior's staff have been exemplary.
They have met every situation with open understanding and made every potential disappointment a reason to want to come back.
That is service. Which, in the end, is the hallmark of going out in the first place.
So we will not only be back. We will encourage others to...
