We love Chinese food and were excited to discover a Chinese restaurant on this side of town. Appearances never faze us, as it is a little run down, nestled in a strip mall,. But in our experience it looks like the kind of place that churns out amazing, affordable Americanized Chinese food.
Unfortunately, we are sad to report that the quality of the food is middling, bland and disappointing. Our family couldn't finish the pork ribs, they were so incredibly tough and cooked to an extreme level of doneness that my grandfather would have approved of. The stir fried beef is covered with a half-cooked layer of flour that flakes off in your mouth. The pork filling of the dumplings have some sort of filler in it so they don't have to use a lot of meat. Also, compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, it is on the expensive side ($8.25 per order of 8 steamed dumplings!). I think they can get away with it because it is on the more tourist-oriented side of the bay.
If I had one question to ask them, I would ask them, do you eat the food you serve in your restaurant? But I already know the...
Read moreWas out of town staying at a hotel while we got my car fixed. Plenty of good reviews so we gave it a try and the wife was craving some Chinese.
My wife got the sweet and sour and I got the orange (mild hot). The dark meat was actually so bad it made me feel sick. The white meat on my wife's sweet and sour was fantastic.
I took my meal back (with receipt) and the chef was IMMEDIATE to fix my problem. He made the orange chicken with the same deep fried type white meat as the sweet and sour chicken. Kudos to them for the quick service. Literally in and out! The second time around the food was so much better but I had almost lost my appetite by this time. No worries, it's good enough to reheat now.
Fantastic place and I think our food accounted for over 3 pounds of food for $32. Relatively cheap for the area. Oh, and the chicken fried rice is actually as great as other reviewers found it to be.
My suggestion to this company: Drop the dark meat as standard - it's really bad, way too chewy and stringy. White meat remains superior! Other than that, thank you for fixing my food fast. 5 star for...
Read moreI love this place, and they DELIVER! (think choir in the background) I don't cook and I only have to get up off the sofa and answer the door.
My favorite is the spicy Mongolian beef. This is a szechuan dish with a spicy and sweet flavor. My second favorite item is the crab rangoon. Wonderful cheese and crab mixture in fried crispy wonton. Top that off with the chicken fried rice, which is so densely packed I get three meals out of the small size. I love the hot and sour soup. If you have a cold, the spices will clear out your head. Have a box of kleenix nearby. I also like to pour some of it over rice (doesn't matter what kind) to add flavor to it. Rice and soup are a meal in itself. The owner and his family that work there are great. The delivery time is always sooner than expected and the food is fresh and hot.
Love, love, love this place. It took me a while to find a restaurant I liked when I moved here 8 years ago, but I am a happy, satisfied customer now. I never order from...
