Potter's Bakery — Restaurant in Traverse City

I used google to search for Gourmet Cakes here in TC and Potters was the best as far as ratings. I bought their "Cake of the Month", after I got over the sticker shock I took it hoping for the best. It fell far short of any expectations I might have had. They used the Whipped Lard Frosting out of a 5 gallon bucket, added a little cinnamon and called it "Butter Cream". They used filling out of a can, or bucket that was no different than a CHEAP doughnut filling. Then they filled in the blank areas with the CHEAP white (lard) frosting. I know what a gourmet dessert is, and this was far from it. All of this for a mere 40+ dollars and it was no different than a Meijer or Wal Mart off the shelf item.

WOW I love this place and the staff is amazing. Potter's does a fantastic job. The sweets to eat. The building is very clean. The atmosphere is delightful and full of good energy. The energy comes from a very friendly, kind professional staff. The eclairs are amazing - most places fill a little and your left with dough and no filling. Not here - they fill it until its completely full and the chocolate on top is delicious (you don't end up with dough and no filling in this place its fully loaded). I have tried other desserts that are extremely good. I highly recommend Potter's to purchase your sweets from. Excellent staff and yummy treats made the way I love them. Cakes are delicious but I called a week ago asked for a seven sister cake I was charged for 3 seperate coffee cakes and when told them that wasn’t right wasn’t offered any help or a refund or even a remake of the cake I actually ordered. Normally I don’t complain but what is one person supposed to do with 3 coffees cakes?

So this was my first ever ordering a custom cake. So there was lots of miscommunication and confusion on both ends. I thought that I was able to order one cake with 3 different flavors but that was NOT the case. Which is fine I just didn’t realize that nor was that made super clear when I ordered the coffe cales never the less!
