I stopped in the early afternoon on a Thursday for a late lunch. The restaurant was busy but not packed and there were many empty tables, all still loaded with dirty dishes. There were empty tables in the bar area, but I'm not able to get up onto high stools so those were not an option. We stood at the front for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to even acknowledge we were there. Four wait staff walked by us but did not make eye contact nor even say anything like..."be right with you" or "go ahead and have a seat". Nothing. Yet several staff stood by a table at the bar looking at someone's cell phone and joking around. When someone finally walked over to us they had an attitude as if we were somehow ruining their day because we had the audacity to enter their restaurant to have lunch. The horror! A patron that wanted to be served. The staff person said they would clean a table. They did...but left melting ice and soda on the bench seat and food smeared across the table from the quick swipe it was given during the cleanup. After cleaning the seat ourselves, we were then handed menus but before we could even look at them, the wait person said she was ready to take our order. I had no clue what I was going to order as we had just sat down. I told her I'd need a minute to decide and she literally rolled her eyes, huffed then said she'd be back in a couple of minutes. By then, I was not interested in eating there. I did not feel welcome and certainly was not going to give my money to a place that treated customers as if they are putting the staff out because I wanted to buy lunch. Bear in mind...we had made NO requests other than to have a seat and menus. And I cleaned my seat so I didn't end up sitting in a puddle of melting ice and soda. We opted to leave without ordering and went to the Bob Evan's next door were we had the BEST service and great food. I will never be back in...
Read moreUpdate: I spoke with Elliot and we had a very good conversation over the phone and even better at the restaurant. He invited us back and it was a totally different experience. Ashlee (sp) was our server/bartender as she was picking up tables all over the restaurant. She was very personable and on top of her service. You could see that they were still short staffed but the team that worked that evening was on top of it. Elliot was very kind and professional and has true hospitality and leadership skills. When we stroll back this way in a year, we will probably see you again. đ Thanks again Elliott for the "WOW" experience. You are a kind human.
We stopped in at 4:00 pm on a Saturday with my 7 year old granddaughter for a party of 5. The host informed us that it was a 45-50 minute wait because their servers called off. The restaurant was empty and no other guests were waiting. The bartender was leaning against the bar chatting and no manager in sight. Why couldn't the bartender pick up some tables, the manager as well as it was still early and again the restaurant was 90 percent empty. Back in my day in the restaurants, I would be all over picking up tables as that is my money and as a manager, the same and then give the tips to the team for making it happen. Didn't look like a very good environment for employees or guests. It has been over 10 years since I stepped into an Applebee's and this one just confirmed that there is really no reason to ever do it again. My granddaughter is the one who wanted to go here but we enjoyed great hospitality and food at a different restaurant. I would recommend staying away from...
Read moreI can't even give this restaurant in Troy, OH a rating it's so bad. I personally love Applebees. My experiences have been so good at all the others, but for whatever reason this one is the absolute worse!! My daughter, who was home from serving in the military went there for lunch today. The service (as always) was at a snails pace. In fact every time I've ever been there, I've had to ask the waitress where my food is. I have an hour for lunch. They eat 40 minutes up of that time getting my food to the table. They're very ho hum, as if none of them want to be there, serving the public. My daughter really wanted to go there, but I did warn her of the service. I stopped going altogether. I avoid it. I usually get the All You Can Eat soup and salad. I think they do it on purpose, so they don't have to give you more than one serving, taking their time that is. How long does it take to get soup and salad. Apparently 40 minutes. My daughter vowed that she would never visit there again, and I won't be going back to THAT one. She even asked about a military discount, and the waitress was gone forever, because she said she had no idea. When she returned she said, NO there isn't one, we feed veterans once a year so we don't offer discounts to military at any other time. So I guess there is only one day of the year to say thank you for serving. Really irked me. As a mother, a customer and someone who pays for their food, my patience is completely worn out with this...
