I would have given this two stars, but the ongoing saga of their lack of customer service and follow-through is absurd
The food and servers are always consistently great. However, what was a place I would rate 5 stars, experience on 1/5 left us flabbergasted. It was the first problem that we had experienced, and it was left to us to resolve the problem on our own.
On 12/18, we reserved an igloo (a great experience that we have enjoyed a few times) with the Moose Preserve, a restaurant affiliated with Camp Ticonderoga, among others. At that time, we purchased an $80 gift card eligible for use at various affiliated restaurants.
On 1/5, we visited Camp Ticonderoga. After giving the gift card to the server, she returned and stated that it has a zero balance. We explained that we had not used the card, since it's purchase. She spoke with her manager, and then explained to us that we would need to speak with The Moose Preserve to resolve the problem. We politely paid the bill and left... "Asking my wife on the way home, why would we visit a place that won't resolve its own problem?" We had just spent $100, to jump through hoops, for a place that we visit a couple times a month, and the manager didn't bother to come speak to us? No, thank you. You either earn my business or lose it.
Upon returning home, I called The Moose Preserve with the purchase receipt and activation slip and explained what had happened. The manager asked if we were still at Camp Ticonderoga, she was willing to resolve it. I explained we had paid and left. I gave her our information, and she apologized and advised she would send the gift card to us.
We have six kids, and we work very hard to make time for date nights...choosing locales that seem a step above. We accept mistakes happen, and to err is human.. No problem. Ask me to jump through hoops, pay out of my pocket, to fix your business issues, HUGE problem.
Lauren M. from Camp Ticonderoga claimed the manager "inquired about the balance of the card when you were at the restaurant so that we could honor the amount."
Readers decide for yourselves..
From my point-of-view it appears that the company is taking the side of a manager that NEVER approached me. Let me make it abundantly clear...they blew it....if that had been the case, then it should have resolved it without me intervening (after paying 100% out of pocket and going home) and then writing this review.
The card that Moose Preserve committed to sending on 1/5.....as of 1/16 it hadn't arrived and required me to make another phone call...the manager apologized for misplacing my info and committed to sending it for $100. I guess we'll see... for now, I am shaking my head at this...

For the most part I subscribe to the old saying "If you don't have something good to say, then don't say anything at all". Not this time! We made Thanksgiving Day reservations for 5:30 PM for a party of seven. Upon our arrival we were seated in a timely fashion, however we had to wait quite some time before the waitress came to our table. She proceeded to tell us that she had been there since 10:00 AM and had a very rough day and was extremely tired (thanks for sharing). She then took our drink orders. After an unusually long wait before we received our drinks, she asked if we we ready to order only to inform us that THEY WERE OUT OF TURKEY. Out of turkey on Thanksgiving Day at 5:30 PM? She also informed us they were out of several other items on the very limited Thanksgiving Day menu. Had we been told they we out of turkey and other items upon our arrival and before being seated (which would have been the right thing to do), we would have most certainly decided not to dine here. We then reluctantly placed our orders. After yet another extremely long wait before our waitress returned, by which time our drinks were empty and had been for some time, she informed us the kitchen had LOST OUR ORDER. UGH!!! When we finally did receive our orders, most of the items were cold, especially the side dishes. The mash potatoes (very lumpy) and stuffing were served in tiny bowls and appeared to have been scooped with an ice cream scooper. We had to ask for coffee and water refills on multiple occasions, never once actually being offered a refill. We also had to ask for bread, which was supposed to come with the meals, no less than a half dozen times (we never did receive any bread). At this point I actually thought our party was the subject of a skit on Impractical Jokers. Finally, as we expressed our overall dissatisfaction to our less than attentive waitress, we received a 1/2 dozen complimentary chocolate chip cookies and three slices of pumpkin pie. WHOOPEE! As we left the restaurant after a what was over a three hour dining experience (and I use the term "experience" strongly), we encountered several other patrons leaving that had experienced an equal level of frustration. My wife and I dine out frequently, and without exception this was our absolute worse dining...
Read moreBEWARE planning an event at Camp Ticonderoga! I booked a bridal shower here 9 months in advance. I signed a contract and was told when I paid the $100 deposit at the time of booking I was locked in at the 2024 pricing. Several weeks before my event (which was taking place in June 2025) I reached out to confirm my reservation as I had not heard from anyone, I was informed that I needed to speak to the new manager, Iris. Iris had an attitude with me from minute one and informed me that my contract would not be honored as Camp Ti had changed owners. She requested I come in to pay an additional $500 deposit. Mind you I called them. Until I called no one had contacted me to request yet another deposit. I asked to speak with the owner and she refused to provide their contact information. When I went in person to pay the additional deposit, Iris was too busy to accept it.
Iris ended up charging me an additional $5 per person, an additional $2.50 per cocktail and added 25% gratuity instead of the 20% I signed my contract for. I was forced into paying the higher rates as I had 75 guests attending and it was a month before my event.
Iris was very hard to get ahold of after that, whenever I called to confirm details staff would claim she was in a meeting and she did not return my calls.
The day of my event nothing was set up as requested, tables were missing and the sky room banquet area was filthy. Staff told me there was an event the night before. It was clear no one had vacuumed, there was old food and crumbs all over the carpet.
When it was time to settle my tab I did not receive credit for the $500 deposit I paid to Iris over the phone the month prior. Staff asked me to show proof of my receipt. It seemed as though they were afraid to approach Iris and found it easier to request I produce proof of receipt.
The entire experience was appalling. Iris is completely unorganized, unprofessional and the venue was filthy. I never write reviews but my experience was so poor I felt compelled to. If I could have given 0 stars I would have.
The only positive thing I can say is that our 2 servers the day of the event were wonderful. I hope this review helps someone considering booking an event here. Do yourself a favor and book...
