I'm writing a review because I was really looking forward to trying this place out for the past few weeks. My fiancé and I like going to the weekly trivia next door, so we were hoping this could be our regular Wednesday dinner. I am sad to say I was quite disappointed. I would like to warn others to not waste their money here.
The service and atmosphere were okay. We do an earlier dinner on Wednesdays around 5:30 pm--so not a super busy time. Can't speak for how service would be at a later time.
The space is fine, but I could see myself feeling cramped if they actually hit full capacity. 4/5.
For our time of day, the waitress gave plenty of attention. She was actually a bit too quick in coming back to how the food was. Our soup, salad, and garlic rolls all came out at the same time. She stopped back so quickly to ask how the soup was, but I was still munching on my first garlic roll and hadn't touched my soup yet. I accidentally answered "good" thinking she was asking about the rolls. This would have been unnoticeable once, but she stopped back pretty quickly again after we got our pasta that I was only one bite in.
When I tried the soup, it wasn't good, wasn't bad. Just wasn't anything special. So then I felt bad for unknowingly lying when she asked the how I felt about the soup before I had even tried it. Also, she mentioned it would be an upcharge to get soup instead of salad with my pasta, but she didn't say it would be the whole $8.99 price! Don't think I've ever heard of $8.99 for a bowl of soup. With the portion size, it might have been appropriate if it was actually good. Very large portions with everything--normal for Italian restaurants.
Then for the actual pasta, I had the lobster ravioli. This also had no flavor, so I started to wonder if maybe I'm coming down with COVID because that's how everything was. Even the garlic knots didn't taste like garlic. Very bland.
My fiancé sanity checked me and agreed everything was bland. He was literally salting a garlic roll with a salt shaker when I asked him. If I happen to come down with COVID, I'll update my review, but for now I'm sticking for a 1/5 with the food. Several of my friends come from Italian families, and I would be afraid to bring them here and lose their trust.
I really want a good Italian place in Troy, so please just learn to season, and you can easily go up to 5/5 because the portion itself is appropriate for the price.
I'll end with a quote from after I tried the lobster ravioli: "The portion size is large, but that doesn't matter if I don't want...
Read moreMy husband and I were one of the very few who were able to eat before they ran out of ingredients at 7pm. We wanted to love this place very badly as Italian restaurants here in Troy is somewhat limited. Our server was amazing! She was so friendly and accommodated to us fast. Wish we got her name. But I think we couldn’t take the restaurant as seriously because of the bright lighting and poor seating set-up. It still felt like Rapid Fire. In no way should this review be critical, but, I wish the both of us didn’t order the priciest pasta (Taste of Italy & Shrimp Scampi) as they weren’t very good-tasting or flavorful. My Shrimp Scampi was unfortunately very bland and oiled/watered down. I say this to say that maybe their pizza and cheaper pastas might be their specialties! It was just unfortunate that their priciest ones, weren’t. I had seen some reviews that said their garlic rolls’ dough was tough and not “doughy” but I would have to disagree! Ours came nice and warm (didn’t have much flavor other than garlic and oil and IMO felt like it was missing some marinara sauce that they could provide in the future) but the best thing we ordered by far! Also, for $7, I got a small slice of tiramisu. It wasn’t terrible but they added a lot of coffee that I feel like overpowered the rest of the dessert. Overall, just okay. Our total came out to be $77 after the tip. Unfortunately, we feel that the price didn’t match the food and might consider coming back here again with ordering a pizza maybe. Despite this review, everyone should still come try this place out! I feel like it has so much more...
Read moreHad lunch at the Troy,OH location 4/5/2025. Overall, we were happy with our visit. Our server, Brandy, gave good recommendations and was very attentive. Salads were simple but good. One of us had french dressing and the other got the homemade italian. Garlic knots were tough and chewy. We each ate 1 of the 2 that came with each salad. We chose the calamari for our starter. A bit on the chewy side but otherwise the breading and crunch were really good along with the marinara for dipping. We chose the Taste of Italy and Three Amici. The Taste of Italy included chicken parmigiana, lasagna and fettuccine alfredo. Chicken parm was great as well as the fettuccine alfredo but the lasagna was disappointing. The taste/flavor of the lasagna was okay but when brought to our table, we wondered if it had been forgotten on the plates. LIt looked like a pool of sauce covered in cheese. Just a couple pieces of pasta were found in the pool. Just wasn't what you would expect a lasagna to be. Three Amici included chicken parmigiana, lasagna and stuffed shell. Again, chicken parm was great. Stuffed shell was okay and as stated, the lasagna was a let down. We will definitely go back to try more of the menu but now know to pass on the lasagna and...
