Formerly UCBC, I was hesitant because of past reviews . BUT, I was wrong to judge! Donât make the same mistake I did! The new owners have completely changed the ways of the old owner and it truly shows! J Bagels & CafĂ© has a wide variety of not only bagels (cinnamon bagel is too good) to their pastries baked daily and donât worry they have many GF options for both bagels and desserts! I asked for a Madison Melt with an egg on top and they were more than happy to make it! Plenty of seating and parking so you can fully enjoy your breakfast, if you have the time! Huge shoutout to Jen and Jay for the awesome service even though the mornings can get hectic! Honestly the best place to start your day with a solid breakfast and dessert if you have room! I highly recommend stopping by for anything, whether it be a bagel, chocolate croissant or just to have a cup of coffee and play a few of the many board games they have available for customers! I will 100% be returning and will be recommending J Bagels & CafĂ© to anyone looking for a quick bite or anyone looking to enjoy breakfast with...
Read moreGreat local breakfast spot. It's my go to for a warm croissant or a delicious chocolate croissant. Coffee is always fresh and great homemade cookies! They do smoothies and sandwiches too.
*Edit 6/2024. I want to love this place, itâs down the street from me, itâs comfortable and the bagels are great. The service however can be spotty. Iâve had several occasions when Iâve ordered bagels not toasted and they come out toasted, ordered pancakes last week that didnât come out, I ran out of time and was able to grab my croissant with no refund offered for the missing pancakes, and then today being the crescendo; I made my coffee and there were milk curdles in it; I showed the gentleman behind the counter and he gave me another cup, no comment made and went back to his work so I used my own milk from home. Hoping he at least took the container off the counter. Again, I love local but with what prices are these days, a little extra service makes a massive difference. As a retail worker myself, I try to practice...
Read moreNo prices in the menusâ so you have to either ask how much every items youâre considering costs or guess. Iâm not in a position to order without considering cost⊠so⊠I felt a bit humiliated having to ask what several items cost at the register.
I work in Trumbull, but wonât be back for this reason. Disappointing..
Added The owner's response indicates a lack of understanding and concern for my problem-- and is borderline obnoxious. I'll decide what factors I write about in my reviews. If you read the review with maturity-- and perhaps offered a solution besides, "Our prices go up so often, it doesn't pay to print pricing on our food items," I might have been inclined to give your store another shot.
The owner's response simply made me feel angry as well as disappointed. I don't think it's too much to as for you to price your menu items-- y'know like every other restaurant in...
