Argh.... An edit... So, here's the problem. The pizza is pretty good, but..... The staff is incompetent and the service is horrible.... Harsh??? At Vick's it is always something. Last night we showed up and there was a sign on the door that the air conditioner was broken. Outside seating or take out only... We chose to sit outside. Our server was horrible. They were out of everything on tap except for a IPA. I suspect the reason why that was still on tap is because nobody was drinking it. Ordered a couple of beers and our two pizzas and it took a really long time to get them, but we eventually were served. The girl who brought our beer brought out a couple of bottles and no glasses, even after ordering glasses with the beer... A while later I ordered two more beers... When the pizzas were served we were asked if we needed plates and napkins.... Really? Ten minutes later the second beers arrived... 1 for me and two for my wife.... I kid you not... All the time we were there, they slowly kept seating more customers. Unfortunately, every single table took 20 to 30 minutes just to get attention after being seated... Fast forward about 15 minutes... Table on the right got an appetizer and it was wrong.... Ten minutes later the family on the left finally got their pizza and it was wrong... Prepared wrong... I have chatted with the gal who apparently runs the show before (a couple of months ago) and she has no idea what customer service is in a restaurant. It was obvious a couple of months ago and judging by the recent Google reviews it is getting worse. Go ahead and read the recent reviews... The theme is the same. The service here sucks. Last night they had the employees. Remember, they closed the inside.... Vick's has a huge problem. Their pizza is good. Their location is good. With proper management and staff they would have the ingredients to be successful. As long as the owner allows the incompetent management to prevail, they will be closed within months. Sad situation indeed. People like the product, but if you are unable or can't replace the management, Vick's won't be here...
Read morePreface: I rarely leave 1 star reviews, check my history. They're that bad.
Rude staff, disorganized, and their pizza is mediocre on a good day. Their sauce is nearly flavorless (when they use enough for you to taste it), as is their cheese. Calling what they produce "pizza" is disrespecting the entire legacy of such an incredible dish. That stands true even when they send you the correct order (rather than giving you cheese when you order pepperoni, and light sauce when you ordered extra).
Only enjoyable thing about this place is that I found it humorous that their own pizza boxes out them as liars (the bottom of their 21" pizza states that the box is 20", I had to measure to confirm). Good thing Weights & Measures doesn't care about tiny pizza shops.
I understand there's a lot of hype and history around this place, but they seem to have let that get to their head. They're arrogant, go against industry practices in terms of issue resolution and quality (calling themselves "gourmet" must be some kind of inside joke), and are as flavorless as Dominos. Be honest in your reviews, or simply don't post one—don't be part of the problem.
There are other pizza shops in the area ranging from smaller shops like Romeo's and Pizzaronis to chains like Papa John's (Papa John's is my go-to, their Reynoldsburg and Pickerington locations are extremely good). Go ahead and order from Vick's, come back here so I can say "I told you so," then start ordering from some place that's...
Read moreI've only been in Ohio (Columbus area) for a few months and I have struggled to find a good pizza place. I've tried their chain pizza places and a few independent ones also. But none of them were good. I drive by Vicks everyday and I finally decided to try them today. I called in my order for delivery and told the gentleman who answered the phone that it was my first time ordering. He was super helpful and explained the menu to me. He even told me that he would be the one delivering and what kind of car he would be in. That alone made me feel extremely comfortable placing an order, even if the pizza would have been bad. I ordered a cheese and pepperoni and a pepp, bacon, onion, green pepper and black olive pizza. It was hot like it just came out the oven. They didn't skimp on the cheese like most of the places I tried do. The pepperoni was the small old fashioned kind that curls up and gets crispy on the edges. It was everything I have been looking for in a pizza place. The only thing I would change is I like my pizza cut like a pie. I think the squares is an Ohio thing. But that's just a preference. I don't see me ordering pizza from anywhere else now. Thank you Vick's, you have no idea how long I've been looking for...
