Let's be honest here, the beer is mediocre, the food is over-priced and inconsistent in quality, the service....If you want to be ignored, insulted and in general be treated like trash on the bottom of someone's shoe, the staff here are the right people for the job. We ate here right after it first opened, service (male waiter who left shortly after), food and beer were fabulous! We came back and we couldn't get the waitress to be interested enough to do anything but flirt with other staff members and after only getting our water, no other drinks or food while we looked over the menu, we had to just walk out after watching her do nothing but take selfies and flirt for 20 minutes. We thought this may have just been an off night, but we made three other attempts, the third the waitress messed up our order, was rude, would NOT refill water or tea and we saw her only to take our order, bring the wrong food and drop the ticket without food resolution. We paid, gave her one of the lowest tips I have ever given (5% though she deserved the two pennies in the bottom of the glass, which most wait staff knows is the biggest insult they can receive regarding the service they provided), left and didn't finish the cold nasty food that likely would have caused food poisoning. The fourth time the hostess was too busy chatting up one of the male staff to pay attention to us or the barage of customers waiting behind us, so we left after 10 minutes of no acknowledgement and plenty of tables open. The fifth attempt resulted in us having to wait to be seated, even though it was not crowded, all the empty tables were covered in what the previous customers left with no one willing to clean them until we said something. The waitress was so rude we walked out without ordering.
Save yourself some trouble and head to downtown Birmingham where they have REAL chefs and not a bunch of amateur, wanna be's and have a staff that's been with them a long time, remember you and work their tails off to provide excellent products and service. If you're in the mood for tasty craft beer AND great food, may I suggest B40? The food is on point, along with the friendly staff and very tasty beers. Cahaba Brewing is also not just a cool brewery, but usually has a rockin' food truck. Avondale brewery has amazing food next door, amazing brews and great service. You have a ton of options regarding food in this city, but over-priced, nasty food, lackluster beer and the worst staff in the State shouldn't be it. Ferrus needs to clean house and start over. I know a lot of people frequent it, but I'm guessing once you're drunk you may not care about these things, but the only plus I see is the courtyard where you can watch a game. If I had it my way, I would shut it down for being an insult to this great foodie metropolis. One star was way too generous. It deserves a negative rating.
Ferrus Management, you're just as bad as your staff. You don't care about your #1 commodity, your customers. You rely on people drinking, likely more than they should, for them to give a mediocre review because they are too hammered to know decent food if it slapped them in the head. You lucked into your location, which people will settle for since it's walking distance to their homes, but let's face it, after the first few weeks of being open, you have allowed the young people you employ to run off your greatest commodity, the customers that are interested in food, maybe a beer, but not always beer. Great food will get your customers in, alcohol optional, great food AND great service will keep them coming back on the regular. You don't have decent anything but location. I hope you shut down so we can get a decent restaurant or brewery that cares about their customers in...

My recent visit to Ferus Brewery was nothing short of exceptional, leaving me with an overwhelming desire to share my experience with fellow beer enthusiasts. From the moment we stepped through the doors of this remarkable brewery, we were met with warm smiles and an ambiance that set the stage for an unforgettable evening.
First and foremost, I must commend Ferus Brewery for its striking facility. Nestled in a picturesque setting, the brewery boasts a large pavilion that offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. The expansive open-air space is adorned with stylish wooden tables and comfortable seating, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the surroundings while savoring their brews. Whether you're seeking a cozy corner for an intimate chat or prefer a lively atmosphere, Ferus has it all.
Now, onto the star of the show - the beer. Ferus Brewery showcases a diverse and tantalizing selection of craft beers that cater to every palate. Whether you're a hophead, a fan of sours, or prefer a classic pilsner, their menu has something for everyone. But what truly set Ferus apart was the exceptional assistance we received from the knowledgeable bartender, Laura.
Laura's expertise and passion for the craft beer scene were evident from the moment we engaged her. She patiently guided us through the extensive menu, providing insightful recommendations that perfectly matched our preferences. Her enthusiasm and ability to articulate the intricate flavors of each brew made our selection process an enjoyable journey in itself. Laura's dedication to ensuring that every patron had an extraordinary experience was truly admirable.
We opted to embark on a tasting flight, which allowed us to sample a variety of Ferus Brewery's creations. Each beer was crafted with precision, showcasing a unique blend of flavors that delighted our taste buds. Whether it was the citrusy notes of the IPA, the subtle complexities of the saison, or the rich depth of the stout, every sip was a revelation.
Beyond the fantastic beer and impeccable service, Ferus Brewery provides an atmosphere that encourages patrons to linger and savor the moment. The large pavilion, with its stunning views of the surrounding landscape, creates the perfect backdrop for relaxation and enjoyment. It's a place where friends can gather, where stories are shared, and where the love of craft beer unites people from all walks of life.
In conclusion, Ferus Brewery is a hidden gem that combines remarkable craft beer, wonderful food, a breathtaking facility, and the exceptional service of bartenders like Laura. It's a place where beer enthusiasts can find their haven, where the artistry of brewing is celebrated, and where memories are made. I wholeheartedly recommend Ferus Brewery to anyone seeking a memorable and immersive craft beer experience. It's more than just a brewery; it's a destination that leaves you yearning for...
Read moreAn amazing atmosphere in the heart of downtown Trussville. The brewery here offers a variety of different lagers, ales, etc. to fit any and every beer lover's pallette. The location, top notch. The venue, better (with an indoor bar, outdoor bar and pavillion area, as well as a specialty bar and event area in the back-- you cannot beat Ferus' atmosphere). The brews, fantastic and varied. And while I have not had a chance yet, personally, to try the food from the kitchen, those who have accompanied me on my numerous trips to Ferus who have indulged and ordered off of their decadent kitchen menu... They sing nothing but the highest praises.
If you are looking for a weeknight, weekend, or special occasion venue in Trussville, Ferus should be your choice. Hands down.
In addition to all I have listed above, I want to include a couple more observations from my trips to Ferus: Their outdoor area is family friendly, and pet friendly. There has hardly been a weekend where I have gone and the weather fair where I did not see a number of children enjoying the atmosphere, and many a four-legged fur friend as well.
Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention their top-notch staff. The bartenders, hostesses and servers have all been incredible. They are polite, not afraid of having fun and injecting humor into the work place and environment, and are among some of the friendliest and most competent bar and restaurant staff I have ever encountered.
10/10
What are you waiting for? Go to Ferus and see for yourself. If you find my review to be an extreme exaggeration, PLEASE downvote or negatively rate my review.
But if you check out other reviews I have done, you will see I offer praise where it is due, and criticism in equal amounts.
My ONLY criticism of Ferus is this; their best batches (looking at you, Monstrum) tend to sell out quick. But again, it's because of what a fine quality...
