The last 3 visits, including last night, the service has been slow and poor. We ordered drinks and an appetizer at first. Drinks took about 10 minutes from the bar and the appetizer arrived shortly after. Then we waited 10 minutes for small plates, napkins and utensils so we could eat. I had to flag down a training server to request these items after asking my server for them twice. The gyoza were good but on the colder side after waiting for utensils. My friends drink was so strong she couldn't drink it. We asked our server if it was usually that strong and she said the bartender does a heavy pour. I asked for some additional orange juice to thin it out some but she never brought it and the drink was left undrunk. The bulgogi was yummy, except for the piece of plastic (looked like it was from a pull tab container) that was in the kimchi. I pointed it out to the server who took my plate away but she just shook her head and walked off. No, I didn't ask for a manager or anything, it wasn't a huge deal to me but would have liked the server to pass it along to the manager/kitchen staff to be aware. The teriyaki chicken was gummy with a very poor mouth-feel. We left most of that on the plate. The manager never checked on us, our primary server did the bare minimum and it was just very disappointing when this has been one of my favorite places in Trussville. I will just go back to visiting the one in Lakeview as the service and food there are always...
Read moreHorrible customer service! Placed order through DoorDash. Ordered several items including 2 Blazer Rolls and tiramisu. When order arrived, no tiramisu but sent carrot cake. Then the Blazer rolls had cream cheese. Both website menu and DoorDash menu doesn’t include cream cheese on blazer rolls. I called restaurant, asked to speak to manager. Extremely rude male said he was manager. When I explained what we received in error, his response was “Did you even look at the menu?” I told him that cream cheese was not listed online menu or DoorDash menu. He laughed at me and began to argue with me about what I saw and said I only wanted food for free. I questioned him about being a manager and he laughed at me again and said there was no manager working that day and he was a bartender. I told him I wanted his name. He refused to give it to me and then hung up on me. I called back. Very upset. Told him I would be stopping the next day to speak to his manager. He laughed again and hung up on me. Few minutes later. HE CALLED ME BACK and tried to give me a phone number to a person he said was the manager. I told him I didn’t know for sure that that was manager personally number, I would rather speak to manager in person at the restaurant. He hung up on me again! Horrible experience. I would not recommend. Thank goodness for DoorDash. They refunded the wrong dessert and 2...
Read moreThis was our second visit to the Trussville location, and we enjoyed it all around. They have an excellent patio which overlooks the large space between Umami & Ferus Brewing, so you can enjoy whatever is happening on the stage / huge screen out there. Or you can hide from the Disney movie inside the restaurant if you prefer (as we did!), which is spacious with plenty seating. We ordered the Crispy Rice to start, one of our favorites from Umami in Lakeview. Just delicious. I had a smoked Old Fashioned which was good, and my wife got a Lemon Meringue martini they had as a special. It was a dessert, but hit the taste profile they claimed. The Cash Me Out baked sushi roll was very good. I ordered the Pinche Arroz which I'd never had and the flavors were great, but the (plentiful) shrimp were overcooked. Certainly not inedible and I still enjoyed dish, but it would have been much better with properly prepared shrimp. Not quite enough to knock off a star, but close. Our server was really friendly and at hand when needed. We will...
