This restaurant has a lot of potential. Id like to follow up and see how she pans out.
We walked in to about a 1/3 full house, the unorganization of ordering at the counter caused a bit of chaos by three different people trying to order at the same time, when we ordered, my wife ordered a drink from the bar at the register and the kid didn’t understand what we were asking for. We ordered a meatball sub with a Caesar salad and a supreme pizza.
We were given our number and sat at the bar. I watched two bartenders work, one seemed sufficient, the other, struggling to make basic drinks, over pouring, and not generally making drink in a typical bar fashion. The kid at the register and the other kid expediting food seemed to be throwing a dough all back and forth, a bit inappropriate, especially in a restaurant full of adults drinking. Our food came out rather quickly. I watched the meatballs be scooped out of a hot warmer on the expedite line onto a toasted bun, and placed back over the line back into the kitchen to be garnished, the pizza and sub came out. I had to remind them I had a salad, which honestly I would have expected to arrive sooner to snack on before the sandwich. The salad was good, it had a heavy amount of dressing (which I like)the downside was it was served on a paper on a pan, which made it hard to eat. The other downside to the meatballs were they were still medium well, cutting into the meatball I could still see pink. In a day of worrying about ground beef, this was a bit alarming. Overall the sandwich had good flavor. Id eat it again, with more done meatballs. The pizza looked to be cooked on a stone, which had a nice crust to it. The topping kinda made the pizza sloppy and fell apart eating it.
The biggest downfall, the lack of service. I had to ask for a fork and knife. This restaurant needs to really have servers, as people walked up to the bar asking for drinks, adding to tabs, and no one really checking in on anyone.
I think this place has good flavors, needs some refinement, and get kids to understand the importance of work and not goofing off as customer see...
Read moreOn September 25, 2021 arrived after 6:30 p.m. the restaurant had a light crowd present. Great location, great decor, super friendly staff, extremely clean, but friendliness does not make up for incompetence. This was our first time here, we ordered Saturday's special the Thai pizza. The hostess asked if we were dining in or to go. We stated, "here, on the the inside". She asked for a name and phone number and I will be texted when my order was ready. After waiting till almost 7 p.m. I approached the counter to inquire about my order, since there is no wait staff, only dining room staff to clean and serve the food. I was assured everything was fine, so i patiently continued to wait and minutes later i inquired again noticing people who ordered before and after us getting their orders, at this time i noticed the tables that were presented with food, had numbers on a stick and I was not given a number nor upon the 3 inquires i made was I ever offered a number, each time the the servers and kitchen staff would point and look over at us but nothing ever came of it. Eventually around 7:15 p.m. I kindly asked for a refund and was given a refund. the hostess then asked if I wanted the pizza still, it was almost ready. I declined because for we wanted to enjoy it there and soak up the ambience - the weather, the families, and there was an Alabama football game on a jumbo screen outside with lots of sound. As we're leaving the Trussville area I get a text "my order is ready", nope we...
Read moreWhile waiting inline to order at Pinchgut a woman brought her pizza back in and said it was not what she ordered. The guy at the counter apoligised and said they would remake it. That was worring but we ordered. We decided on cheese bread , a meatball sub , and a small supreme pizza. The decor is nice but the seating arrangement needs alittle work. While waiting on our food another customer brought her pizza back to the counter with a problem and the same woman came back in from earlier with her replacement pizza being wrong also. Our cheese bread arrived and it was fine. The meatball sub and pizza arrived. The sub was tiny about half the size of a 6in Subway sub. The pizza was decent sized for a small. The meatball sub was not anything special and not worth the $10 charged maybe $4/ If the taste was something special then the size to cost would be a better value. Fyi go to a place that specializes in subs for a meatball sub. Also you cannnot eat the sub as a sandwich so my wife went and asked for silverware. The woman behide the counted rudely pointed and said there are takeout forks over there. My pizza was very salty and the crust had a slight burnt taste. There was barely any pepperoni or sausage and what was there had little or no taste. Pichgut Pies is a nice place but they seem to have a problem getting orders right and then its really way over priced for what you get. Honestly the pizza chains have a...
