I brought my wife and kids to quote "the new Italian restaurant." Excepting a really good time, however, I was met with bland food and service. How exactly can you get spaghetti and meatballs wrong (this is what I ordered). A stacked plate of noodles whose sauce was weak and did not stick with 2 less than subpar meatballs. They both could rest easy in the palm of my hand. The salad was as yellow and dry as the bread they served as sides. My wife's eggplant parm was met with a pleasant "mmm, no thanks" as the greasy thing festered on her plate. It's hard to displease children, but when your 3 year old looks at you and says "daddy these are McDonald's fries," you really question how good something is. Not to mention my total being 40.33$ I paid 45.00, and my waiter just walks past our table and tells us to have a good day. Not to cause to much of a ruckus in the restaurant, I take my leave, as he can have that as his tip. But will I be returning...mmm no thanks.
Edit: So I did end up returning. I had a nice conversation with the owner, who told me they've made many many changes. And let me tell you, it was a full 180 on how they were before everything WELL exceeded my expectations 10/10. To the Tamburro family, keep doing what you do. Go far and keep up the absolutely AMAZING work...
Read moreThe staff was really nice however this was like the second time we tried to get up there because the first time they couldn't take the order because of them first opening. That's understandable also they seem to have a problem with their phones. So I agree with that analogy as well that somebody else wrote.
The main deal for the score is the taste of the food. For those that were talking about bland I have to agree wholeheartedly. I hope they read the comments on the lack of taste in the food and do a better job of it. Papa Sal's has nothing to worry about if this is as good as it gets. The chicken marsala that I got was like cream of mushroom soup. I actually love cream of mushroom soup but I was hoping for more taste than that. It was actually a watered down version of cream of mushroom soup in my opinion. My wife said her lasagna was okay but too many noodles not enough sauce and it seems like they were probably overcooked. For the sake of choices in this area I hope they can really come together on making the menu a little bit more tasteful. Also for what we got that was slightly overpriced but I'm not scoring on that because of the way...
Read moreDuring our first visit to this restaurant, we encountered a range of culinary experiences. My son delighted in the reasonably priced kid's spaghetti, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Meanwhile, my wife opted for the chicken parmigiana, and while the breaded chicken was a highlight, the pasta fell short in terms of flavor and seasoning, leaving us with a sense of untapped potential.
As a devoted Marsala fan, my anticipation was high for the chicken Marsala. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment, with a watery Marsala sauce that lacked the robust flavors I expected. On a positive note, the salad was refreshingly crisp, and the ranch dressing was a standout. Additionally, the hot bread served was a delightful touch.
In terms of service, it was decent, although we did experience a 25-minute wait despite available tables. All in all, I would rate this restaurant a 3 out of 5. While I don't plan an immediate return, I am willing to give it another try in a couple of months. I believe there is potential in their recipes, and perhaps with time, they will refine their dishes to better match...
