From the start, I noticed this is a "Privately Owned" hotel operated under the license of Comfort Inn & Suites. It is extremely understaffed. I saw 5 employees in five days. Two of which were not front desk clerks. Had the pleasure of watching them enjoy a smoke out in front of the main entrance as we entered and as we sat having breakfast in the morning. Such a professional presentation. Lovely thing to view over coffee & waffles (sarcasm). The carpets throughout the entire hotel are in desperate need of a good vacuum if not shampooing. Excessive dust buildup along the edges. Even the elevator floor was dirty. We stayed for five nights. The same food spill spots were in the elevator the entire time. ||Lesson Learned: There is a sign in the bathroom that states linens will be changed every third day. Later I noticed their website states "Choice Hotels® locations offer housekeeping services upon request". What? So, $100/night & take out the trash yourself. ||So, after I requested services, they came in and took out the trash, put in clean towels & made the beds on day four. However, they did NOT change the sheets. I know this because my pillow was still jammed up under the headboard where I left it from sitting up in bed that morning working on my laptop. Also, the sheets had the same "Body wrinkles" & evidence my family had been sleeping there for the last 4 nights. Including black lint from the Wife's PJs. ||The included breakfast was simple & typical grab-and-go stuff. Nothing fancy or worth mentioning. Nothing I would eat at home or order in a restaurant. On a positive note, everything was clean and sanitary in that aspect.||I will not be staying at another Comfort Inn & Suites. I usually stay at Holliday Inn Express when I travel. This seemed comparable on their website for a slightly lower price. It was not worth the minuscule savings to deal with the disparity in "Hotel Services" and lac-luster, somewhat dirty hotel for 5 days. If I hadn't pre-paid a nonrefundable charge I would have gone somewhere else.||I don't know where it got its 4-star rating. This is a 2-star at best. The Walmart of Hotels in the...
Read moreI really don’t write bad reviews, but if I write a review, you know it’s got to be really bad. I stayed at the Comfort Inn in Trussville, Alabama, in room 310, and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I canceled my whole trip and went back home the next day.
When I first entered the room, it smelled like wet mildew or mold. I didn’t feel comfortable, so I started cleaning everything myself and sprayed to cover up the scent. The next morning, I left to get breakfast, and when I returned, the room looked nice, until I turned back the covers.
There was a large brown stain right on the sheets, as you’ll see in the picture. That was extremely disturbing because it showed me these rooms are not being properly cleaned or changed between guests.
I went to the front desk to report it. The lady there was kind and switched the bedding, but honestly, I still didn’t feel comfortable.
The real shock came when I walked by room 312 and saw the housekeeper had pulled all of the sheets and covers off the bed, completely exposing the mattress. When I looked closer, I noticed huge brown stains all over it. It was absolutely disgusting. Out of concern, I went back to my room and pulled my own bedding off, and my entire mattress was covered with what looked like old urine stains.
I was furious and went down to speak with a man named Michael at the front desk. I even showed him the pictures, and he still wasn’t concerned. He showed no empathy whatsoever just said, “Sorry that happened to you,” and walked in the back like it was nothing.
This place is unsanitary, unsafe, and completely unacceptable. I always carry my own cleaning supplies for a reason, but even that couldn’t fix this situation. I’ll be contacting the health department because no guest should ever have to experience something this nasty.
If you value cleanliness, safety, or basic respect. You should skip staying here. Stay at your own risk. Don’t say I...
Read moreDo not stay here! The experience was so bad that on our travels back home we chose a different route just to avoid staying here.
Upon arrival the late night front desk person was very rude and unfriendly. She met my family and I with a scowl on her face and provided no greeting. We had to even ask if something was wrong and even explain the reason why we were there late including the fact that we made contact prior about being able to check-in without reservations. (Per our prior call we were told it would be no problem for us to walk in at any time to get a room while traveling through).
Even after explaining the situation, she still did not change her behavior. She continued to present with an attitude as though we were an inconvenience and only interacted with us when we prompted a question. Even then she provided one word responses to questions. She provided paperwork for us to sign without explaining it and her interactions were short. It was very uncomfortable and disturbing.
The first room she provided was horrible, smelled of mildew and was gloomy. It was steps away from the front desk. Made me wonder if she deliberately provided us the room knowing it’s condition. Upon request, we were provided another room which was only slightly better. The carpet was dirty, the room was gloomy and smelled (like the AC filters needed cleaning). The toilet also did not flush well. Upon checking the mattresses, they were stained. I was uncomfortable with using the bathroom or walking on the floor without shoes. Our stay was short (about 8 hours) as they would not provide a late check out ( her exact words were there is no late checkout here). Once we saw the room, we were happy to not extend our stay and happy that it was just a pit stop on our long road trip.
The ratings provided online were deceiving. For the price we should have received better and I have received...
