Little Mexican joint that is hidden off of a side road, right off of Parham. Probably drove by this place a million times before I realized it was there. Just a little place nice and cozy. Overall pretty good food. Nothing special, just good straightforward Mexican cuisine. This is actually the second time I've been there. My weather today was pretty attentive and prompt unfortunately little bit of a language barrier wanted an unsweet iced tea with some Sweet and Low oh, but he didn't really understand and ended up bringing me a tea with lemonade in it, which I'm not really sure how it even got to that. I love a Chile Relleno, but unfortunately like most of the places in the area there's come in an egg batter which I don't like. The feeling was also pretty liquidy they're not much to it. After peeling off the batter I enjoyed it with the enchilada and rice. The rice was actually very good. Got to kind of look for the place it's across from the mall next to a 7-Eleven but if you're in the area I need some good quick Mexican food don't think you can...
Read moreWe tried this place on a whim after an event with the kids and based it off the reviews, so were surprised by the experience. Most of the issues were service related. We weren't given kids menus and had to find it on our phones as the server didn't come to the table for 5+ minutes. Once we ordered 3 of the 5 plates came out and then our kids waited for at least 10 minutes before theirs arrived....and the reason was the chicken fingers they ordered had obviously been forgotten in the deep fryer. They came out very obviously burned and hard. Our son had his sprite refilled with water, the waiter hardly checked on us, and when he came to clear the table he stacked the plates without asking if we wanted to save the food. When I said we were saving my son's food, he said sorry, left an empty plate, and took my son's plate with the food on it before we could say anything....the service was comically bad. With so many options for TexMex in RVA, service means a lot, and this place just does not make the cut. I...
Read morewow! I never read so many mediocre reviews about Mexican food El Caporal is "ok" but not authentic, take it from me I am Mexican, all the restaurant in the Henrico area if not all of them are Mexican-American to go "easy" on you American people. pretty soon we will hear that Taco bell is also authentic, get a grip on yourselves the salsa is poorly made and canned refried beans and the chimichanga sauce also canned just look on the back, they have a little storage shed usually open, you can peak there are a lot of canning, and if you go to "EL POTRILLO" LABERNAUM AND MECHANICSVILLE TURNPIKE is WORSE if you ask for the steak, they'll give steak allight PREVIOUSLY FRIED FROM YESTERDAY!!. RIDICULOUS!! no kidding.
so be aware no all Mexican restaurants are all alike, some of the are pretty good, but it is a matter of...
