A brunch place that still offers seating!
short and sweet review: Ive never had an uncomfortably long wait for seating. Staff is polite and kind, usually being greeting with a warm welcome. Kitchen knows what they're doing, putting out food in a timely manner with minimal mistake(can happen anywhere) prices are reasonable. diverse well rounded menu suitable for all kinds of tastes. They even have an alcohol menu with pleasant tastes so you don't feel like an alcoholic on your relaxing morning.
Lengthy review: I come here periodically to get my brunch fix. In most cases this review is valid for all locations, but I assure you you'll be pleased with the Regency location's service and staff.
Before you're seated First of all, you'll notice that every employee is wearing face masks and expect you to do the same to meet sanitary expectations and help reduce the spread of Covid. Not once have I had a long wait like I'll encounter at various other breakfast/brunch restaurants(eg: cracker barrel, IHOP, and other places you can find around Richmond). If the wait is longer than you want to stand around waiting, they even offer text notification for when your table is ready, how convenient. Once your table is ready the staff greets you with a warm smile and kind welcome, they always seem so perky. You'll notice when you get to your table everything is either freshly sanitized or one time use and available on request.
Ordering/The menu The server promptly greets you soon after being seated, offering menus and sharing specials. They have a fairly well rounded menu that seems to suite most tastes and diets. I myself am a massive fan of the million dollar bacon(spicy candied bacon) and the coffee(a smooth and rich brew, I've never been disappointed with it). There is several seasonal items that change throughout the year, as well as a handful of specials. When it comes to drinks they offer the typical options found at most breakfast places as well, several juices(some drinks that are even mixed in house), good coffee, and even an alcohol menu with several options to help kick off your morning out on a relaxed note.
The food and service in general When it comes to decided what to get, the staff is knowledgeable about the menu and foods they offer so they can always help to pick out something you'll like. Once you place your order the good service doesn't stop there. The servers are active about checking on their tables and making sure the customer is satisfied. Ive never had an issue with food not coming out hot and fresh, you know, because who would want luke-warm food that sat in the window for a while. In the event I'm displeased with something I ordered in any way the staff is always ready to correct it and ensure satisfaction. Possibly my only gripe about First Watch would be taking my receipt up front to pay out, which isn't really even worth complaining about because its such a common practice at so many...
Read moreCold, industrial dining room. Despite advertising pride in freshness and whole foods, they serve hot chocolate made with a mix and water. It tasted like a brown crayon had been dipped in boiling water. Very disappointing. They also do not make their hollandaise sauce on site and instead use a mix. It was gross. It tasted like a cheese sauce made from a mix with a ton of lemon poured into it. Completely unacceptable for anybody who serves eggs benedict. Restaurants do this and it is a real shame. They should always at least not say they are serving hollandaise sauce on the menu. Because this is no way resembles hollandaise sauce. They should always at least say on the menu that it is not hollandaise sauce, but rather some kind of a sauce made from a mix. It doesn’t even closely resemble hollandaise sauce made from scratch. Pancakes and eggs were severely undercooked, raw and runny on the inside. I had even asked for the eggs to be not runny because I cannot eat them that way due to health concerns. Ordered a side of toast and they brought out warmed , stale sourdough bread, and then the server proceeded to argue with me about the fact that toast is supposed to be brown. Finally, she took it back and remade it and it was OK. Maybe it’s just not the place for me but I at least expect food to be cooked properly and this was not. The sausage was OK. When the server realized I was pretty disgusted with everything she sent the manager over. I was not looking for anything free. And I tipped appropriately. I will say that I usually tip at least 25% but I tipped 15% tip because she argued with me repeatedly. The manager comped my meal with the exception of the hot chocolate and sausage. Not sure how he made that decision, lol, since I complained about the hot chocolate and didn’t drink it, and the sausage had about two bites because my appetite had been lost.I don’t need people arguing with me over breakfast. I doubt most people do. Won’t be back. Maybe Cracker Barrel would be better with regards to the eggs and the pancakes. Overall, the food was was so gross and disgusting. I am not a picky eater. So disappointing, considering the fact that they advertise as being a restaurant that uses top-notch ingredients and...
Read moreI usually visit the Short in Pump location, but I visited this location because my daughter was at a swim meet next door. I have to say I was disappointed with this location which is really unfortunate because we have a swim meet beside this location every month and it would be wonderful to have this place be my go to for brunch while we’re at the meet, but unfortunately it is not . Our order was for pick up so that we could eat it during the swimming.. i ordered the Sunny Seoul Hash : my eggs, which were supposed to be over medium but the yolks were well done and hard it was mostly potatoes and sauce could barely find a piece of pork. I have had this item at the short pump location and thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter had scrambled eggs with cheese and a Belgian waffle. However, her eggs were served cold and the cheese on top wasn’t even melted just some shredded cheese dumped cold on top of it and her waffle was cold. Keep in mind I ordered at the counter and sat there and waited for it, so I’m not quite sure why it was presented in this condition. As well as I have a frame of reference with another location in which I have ordered the same items and did not have any of...
