Stopped by to try them out and over all it was ok. They did have a cool band on the second floor but unfortunately we were downstairs because of their limited upstairs menu. We started out with a couple of Margaritas that were a bit light and Nachos. The Nachos were flour tortillas that were a little too hard and the cheese dip that came with them on the side was a bit lumpy. As if it was made with a Roux and it cooled down; they were okay but could be much better.
My guest ordered the Chicken Tender Wrap with a side of Mashed potatoes [Papas Con Chile Mashers]. She really enjoyed the wrap; the tenders were crispy, tender and full of flavor. Unfortunately, she did not enjoy the mashed potatoes; they were too tangy for her; I guess they over did it with the lime juice. I ordered a Carnitas taco and a Pork Belly taco with a side of Rice and Beans. The tacos tasted okay; the corn tortillas that they came in were a bit on the bland side and the rice was extremely bland. I mixed them with the beans and it was still bland. I couldn't finish them. We finished with the Creme Brulee with a caramelized banana and that tasted great.
Service was good, staff was very attentive; they worked as a team with several staff members asking if we were doing okay and picking up empty plates.
Food and drinks were okay but nothing really stood out. I would recommend going there during happy hour but I wouldn't go out of my way; I wouldn't make it my go to spot just yet; they need to improve their food and drinks specially...
Read moreThis restaurant is significantly overpriced for its quality in my opinion. The chips (actually a few whole corn tortillas) in the chips trio were way too salty, but the guac and queso were excellent. The pina pico was good, but not all that special. The salsa was pretty much tasteless. The tacos (I had the beef birria and the shrimp) were quite good, but not special enough to be worth the price, especially given their very small size. Some people at my table thought that the shrimp tacos were too spicy, but they were fine for me. At the end we attempted to eat some churros, but all 7 of us found that they were seriously undercooked - to the point of being positively doughy. When one of our group complained, the waitress who came over (not our main waitress) said that churros were supposed to be doughy inside. When we all disagreed, she sent the manager over. He apologized and said something rather lame about if they were too thin they got too crispy, but if they were too thick, they could be doughy. He did say that they would refund the money on these. (Since none of us were able to do more than taste them, that was only reasonable.) So we ordered sopapillas instead. All they were were fried tortillas dipped in cinnamon sugar. They tasted good, as did the ice cream they were served with, but were not really sopapillas, in...
Read moreComing in on a Saturday for a late lunch, this was our first experience at this restaurant. We were excited to try this elevated taco bar so we ordered the Stuffed Jalapeños and Yuka Fries. The stuffed jalapeños were actually just one jalapeño cut in half, with a pinch of meat and covered with cheese and condiments. We sent that back immediately. $6.50 for that mess. When you describe your menu items, don’t deceive the customer. If it’s just one jalapeño cut in half, that is not a stuffed jalapeño. You also need to take the (s) off because it was only one. The yuka fries were okay but certainly nothing to fuss about. They were super dry and had a lack luster flavor. I will only speak on my three tacos because husband said his had so much going on that he didn’t know what he was eating. I ordered the fish, el pastor, and hot chicken. The fish taco was the only one I liked. Nicely fried and the flavors were balanced. The el pastor had zero flavor besides the large amount of fresh, diced jalapeños. The actual meat had no flavor. The hot chicken was not spicy at all. No heat. Sadly, the small piece of fried chicken thigh was over salted so paired with the diced pickles made it too salty. We came here expecting elevation but ended up...
