Took a little while to actually find this place. So if your going it's located inside The New Grand Mart, basically the international grocery store. You have to be really paying attention to see their signage. So with being said once you enter, there seating area is o the right side. Looks like the old deli area. They have number of tables set up. At the counter they have lots of pictures of their dishes. You give your order at the counter and then when ready they'll call you up. The food is absolutely delicious! We ordered a few different items, but came to try their Korean Fried Chicken. It comes almost like a chicken lollipop in a sweet sauce. Also got some bulgogi...Yum!, dumplings and some shrimp fried rice. Everything was fantastic! Doesn't take very long to get, comes nice and hot. The sauce is not your typical Chinese sweet and sour, but a Korean version that is darker and more savory. Quite delicious, but without the rice, can be a little too umami or salty. The Bulgogi, a stir-fried marinated beef with sweet peppers, onions, and carrots has excellent flavor with very tender beef and slight crisp to the vegetables. They have a really good variety of dishes, already planning to try more when we come back for more...
Read moreThis is authentic Korean food. It is not uncommon to find eateries within markets, in the Korean culture. This is not fine dining, but a quick and delicious place to grab lunch or dinner. Dumplings are not store bought and the food is cooked from scratch. The lady who works the counter is friendly and courteous. There may be a language barrier but realize this is not your neighborhood Kroger. There are pictures of the food items along with a menu. And even if the lady cannot explain the menu items, there are patrons who can assist. Coming from Baltimore where there are several Korean markets, I am happy that this market opened in Glen Allen. Along with the grocery market, there is a fresh seafood section, where you can buy fresh fish at great prices. Try it with an open mind and you will definately enjoy...
