Kochi Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Tucker

The Stone Mtn roll was the first thing I ordered from Kochi when I moved here 3.5 years ago, and I fell head over heels for it! Sadly, the Stone Mtn roll I received tonight was nothing like it used to be. It was maybe half the size it has been over the years? Barely any sauce or scallops on it. The sushi pieces themselves were the same size as my octopus roll that was $6 cheaper. I imagine some of the ingredients have increased in price, but unfortunately this roll is no longer worth its cost. The spicy octopus roll was okay but still not really worth its $9 price tag. This bums me out, but I felt like I needed to say something if you’re like me and try to spend your money intentionally when eating out nowadays. I still hear good things about the hibachi meals at Kochi, so hopefully that will continue to satisfy...

I have been a patron for years and have seen this place go down in service and quality. I ordered last week two shrimp hibachi meals which cost 32-36.00. I received lunch portions with a larger amount of shrimp to call dinner portions. The fried rice was brown with nothing in it. The vegetables were kid size and their was no hibachi sauce which constituted a very dry meal. I had to pay extra for yum yum sauce but thank god because it was the only way for to make the dry food edible. Take out food quality and portions are terrible and it is not fresh! The first time I ate here, the sushi and hibachi was of good quality and I very much enjoyed it. However, the food quality has gone downhill over the past several months (I have been working in the Tucker area for the past 6 months, if that gives you any indication of how quickly things have changed at Kochi). The last two times I ordered sushi rolls (I gave it two tries, since I was hoping the first bad batch was a fluke), the salmon was mushy and had a very strong odor. The last time I ordered the hibachi steak at lunch, I could tell the meal had been pre-cooked (well in advance, I might add) and heated up right before it was served to me.
