My favorite Chinese restaurant since childhood! Lucky Key serves as my benchmark for all other Chinese restaurants and none other compare. Their daily specials are great, they always have fast, quality service and the food is at a reasonable price with the giant portions they provide. Do yourself a favor and order the sesame chicken wings. They always come out hot, crispy, and covered in the most amazing sauce and a bed roll of rice. As soon as you get settled the bring you a tray of fried wontons which pair nicely with any soup. Most entrees come with two appetizers, your choice of soup and a roll, either egg or spring. The portion are huge so don’t expect to finish it all and usually if you want to take some food home, they will provide extra rice for you so you have another complete meal. The bathrooms are clean and always smell nice and the entire ambiance of the restaurant is on point with the quality of food and service they provide.

We’ve been going here for years. While the food has never been excellent, it’s been acceptable, standard Americanized Chinese. The price was a little high for what you’d get, but it was good enough. Unfortunately, the last several times we’ve been, it’s steadily degraded. They’ve gotten a dish wrong here and there. Tonight, though, was the worst. The egg rolls were dripping grease, overly salted, and floppy. The potstickers were over cooked. And the final straw was the lo mein. I ordered a simple chicken lo mein to share with my husband who can’t handle spice. That is what was on the receipt. However, what I got was a dish I don’t even think is on the menu. Deep fried shrimp lo mein with hot chili oil mixed through. Not only was it something my husband couldn’t eat, I (who has some tolerance for spice) found it too spicy. Unfortunately, they’ve lost a loyal customer.

I’ve been coming here since I was in high school and every single time the food is very flavorful and done right! I came to visit today and had some Chinese in the Lucky Key side of the building, they also serve Japanese on the other side of the restaurant. I strongly suggest coming here to do separate ether Chinese or Japanese food but they do let you order both no matter were you sit. I order some sushi today along with egg foo young and shrimp fried rice. My girl who I was with me ordered the triple combination (chicken, shrimp and beef in brown sauce) and i also add crab Rangoons for my appetizer. Our food came out fast and hot, the portions was very impressive considering the price! Can’t wait to come back for Hibachi Real soon, the yum yum sauce is the absolute best from my other experiences.

UPDATED REVIEW: from 4 stars to 1

I will not return to lucky key or Fuji ya. We had always had a great experience at lucky key. All of the servers know us, and I have been coming here as long as I can remember growing up. I started bring my wife and kids here about 4 years ago and we would visit regularly. We have never minded the dated furnishing, or getting dirty tables from time to time. Hell, we wouldn’t even make a big deal when they got our orders wrong. Because they would always be apologetic and fix it right away

Last night, We decided to go for a late dinner with other family members. There weren’t very busy but I did notice only one server. I didn’t think anything of it as he is a long time employee there and I figure the the other servers were in the kitchen. Well, I was wrong. This is the most unpleasant experience I have ever had with him and his customer service. He was rushing us to order, and kept walking away if we weren’t ordering fast enough.

We had to ask 3-4 times for things like lemon, and silverware. We waited about 20 mins to order, and finally the cashier came to take our order. The server saw this and immediately came over. Everything we told her, he made her repeat to him so he could write it down. They were both talking very aggressively toward each other in Chinese and it was very uncomfortable.

Once we got the bill, he had already included an 8% tip for himself. When I went to pay the bill, they had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to leave an additional tip.... ummmmm NO! I told them that they had terrible service and the cashier stated that they only had one server because the other left and everyone decided to come at the same time. So basically, we don’t care, you guys shouldn’t come for dinner at dinner time... what a joke. Lucky Key has lost a life long customer... but I’m sure...

Why only twp stars? It's an average Chinese place...now.

When I first moved here in the 80s, this was a great place. As years went on, I found it to be my favourite, and has been until this year...but there had been many changes that occurred that built into it.

What once was fresh and soft steamed rice has become old and luke warm and hard. The fried rice used to have a moderate amount of egg in it; it's just speckles of dried egg matter.

What was once extremely savoury and just sweet enough has taken the taste of regular USAmericanised food.

The host and hostess of the restaurant aren't there as much, and what remain are rude people on the phone and insincere in person.

The gentleman that took my orders all the time who was considerate and punctual hasn't been there for my last few visits.

The price has gone up in the last few years, but to tell you the truth, for a long time, they didn't move much, but that only shows a hike in price even more.

And speaking of price, they don't make sense. The menu doesn't make much sense. Take a look at the menu. They have two groups of lunch specials with different prices, and limited description. Good luck asking the staff the difference so that you can figure out if it's worth it...Oh, and that doesn't even mention their daily lunch special, so it's possible that the thing you want has three different lunch specials...'Good luck, again.

It's sad when a place like this is beaten by a place down the street next to a Food Depot that has been consistently just as good at 4 Stars when your favourite...

I recommended this place to a friend and regretted it from the moment we were seated. We were originally in the wrong side of the two part restaurant, when asked where we could get sushi our waiter told us to go on the other side. Once seated we had a new waiter who at first seemed cold but that eventually moved to outright contempt. After asking us for our drinks , which she all but tossed on the table, we placed our orders. When asked questions about the menu she seemed annoyed. We should have left then but decided maybe we interpreted it wrong. We then noticed a drastic mood change for the couple of a different race seated behind us. They were instantly brought waters and spoken too in a nicer tone. We got our food, and found a bug crawling on the sauce bowl. When we tried to get her attention we were waved off and when she finally came she tried to convince us it was ginger. We watched the bug crawl while waiting for her to finally come so I assure you it was not ginger in the least. To add insult to injury, though right on par with the service at the time, she begrudgingly took the bowl and only after we suggested she take the fried food that accompanied it did she remove that as well. No apology offered or explanation. She hurriedly cleared the table while we were talking and then put our checks down. When she saw I didn’t leave a tip she was quite obviously upset and didn’t pick up the tickets. To say disappointed is an understatement. I am a patient customer who understands that in the food industry things happen but this...
