Firstly, thank you Mellow Mushroom chefs for the delicious pizza. This review does not have to do with the food quality. This is directed mainly to management. Where are you? There was a team that was overwhelmed by takeout orders. Let me lay out the scenario:
-Order placed on mobile at 3:27pm -Wait 10 min to leave the house (local in Tucker) -Order info states, "Order ready by 4:01pm" * -Arrived out front of restaurant and parked in parking spot at 4:03 -Called restaurant, as stated on order info, to give car details. Told order will be a few minutes. -Wait to 15 min past "order rdy by time" to walk in to get an update. Entire kitchen staff also walks in at the same time from a break.** Told by associate just a few minutes more, and they will bring it to the car. -Wait to 35 min past "order rdy by time" to go against orders and get an update. Greeted by new individual who said the food will be out in 4 minutes.* Went back in car to wait. -Our pizza pie arrives 40 min past "order rdy by time!" And... there's a missing topping. -I go back in a 3rd time, everyone's favorite customer by this point, and ask for a refund on the additional topping. Told by individual that since it was online they will "...tell the manager and it will be refunded in 3-5 days, anything else I can help with?"**
Note 1: This needs to adjustable to update accordingly with large orders ahead of ours (like the car who had 5 pies and a bag of appetizers ahead of us). I get it things get backed up and busy, but provide reasonable ETAs that are achievable.
** Note 2: Huge order goes out, list of other online orders pops up during or immediately after, refire, order mixup... The list goes on. Don't take it out on the customer. Stagger your breaks kitchen, you make the restaurant function.
**Note 4: Where was management to support the staff? And also ensuring kitchen staggers breaks and the FOH grits their teeth to put on a fake smile? I have no method of proof that I will ever see my refund in the form of paper receipt or email, again hello, manager?
It sucks, but the customer pays their money to support the restaurant, including staff, to have the "customer is always right attitude." I didn't even dine in (so I was in the building with a mask for 5 min max), I thought I was reasonable and courteous in my behaviour, and I left a 20% tip before I even arrived. I drove away feeling like my order was a burden on the employees and that my order was unwelcome. It seemed like a sign that there was a lack oversight on process or maybe a shoddy manager or assistant manager who doesn't show up to work, but tells the team they need to have orders done at whatever time the computer tells them. Nay to the customer.
Edit: Last visit was very pleasant and service / management...
Read moreHave been to this neighborhood location many times. Today was one of those times where you would not have to return if it was your first trip. As soon as we arrived, no host / hostess. Practically every table in the place was dirty at approximately 2:45 pm on a Saturday. One man (manager?) came and assured us he would clean a spot. That same nonsense took place with all that followed us. It sends a message of a dirty "greasy spoon" type establishment. Bad, slow service. No silverware. I could have cleared and wiped down all the tables in 10 minutes. Maybe less.
Food came out as ordered, and hot. That was the 3 stars. Food started getting cold as we waited for silverware. They wouldn't accept our coupon. They directed us to a different location. Strange if you are a business that hope's to get and keep clientele. Just saying. That's why we only visit once in a blue moon. As a "Mellow Mushroom" location I dont see why they would refuse a coupon that "could" help to grow their business instead of the Mushroom in a neighboring community. It was only 5 bucks. A drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the entire check. As recommended I guess we will try their neighboring competitors from now on who may understand the art of serving the customers and make them know they are appreciated.
Not what it used to be. They didnt appear short handed. The wait staff left dishes on many tables during the better part of our stay. Half stepping is a term best to describe this situation. Anybody could have cleared things as they went back and forth. It's like everyone considered the cleanliness and /or hygeine as someone else's job. No pride. Lacking in hygiene. One of our water glasses was also dirty. The only "service" was that they took our order, brought necessary implements. Brought food and check. Had to go to register to pay check to leave without staying all day. Lol.
At least the management takes the time to read these and respond. That's better than 95% of the places out there these days who could care less and wind up going out of business. And they try to respond to all. That's one reason to leave these reviews. If for no other reason than to advise the owner / management of room for improvement. As a business owner myself, I would hope that the community would enlighten me of short comings when they occur...
Read moreWell where do I start? Let's start from the beginning. Number one when I called the guy who I assumed who was behind the bar answer the phone and I said I want to place a pick up order. He said hold on and 10 seconds later the phone went dead. So I still call them back an ordered my calzone cheese calzone I had caramelized onions mozzarella sausage garlic and basil I thought. Long story short and I've been going to Mellow Mushroom for years, it was disgusting. No ricotta cheese that should be standard in all calzones it says it on the menu. No garlic other than the garlic I sprinkled on at the store if I would have known there was no garlic in there I would have sprinkled a little more. As far as the toppings I asked for it was just a mess it wasn't good I've attached pictures since when do you have a calzone that's flat a flat calzone it was like a pizza folded they didn't even prepared correctly. I knew when I bought it that it was going to be BS. I didn't have time to wait for them to redo it. And it looks horrible I knew it. It's best that you go to the Mellow Mushroom over there by Toco Hills. Like Briarcliff area. They make a whole lot better calzone. To the owner or manager it look like he was sitting there the guy working your bar does not need to be working the bar unprofessional wack deer in the headlight even on the phone dear and a headlight. How can the phone hang up and it wasn't even busy and he was the one taking the order? Also I did not see a health rating score displayed in eyeshot View. I will be going to the DeKalb County health inspection to see what the score is I have a strange feeling it's going to be low. I will be back to update it with pictures. Anyway Google that's my experience at this Mellow Mushrooms on Lavista. Bad bad bad not good. I was really looking forward for a calzone it wasn't anything like I expected I should have stopped off at McDonald's or Burger King and I spent $23 thanks Mellow Mushrooms thanks. You're really messed up without...
